Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yeah, plus the books made it seem more self defense, which it didn’t really seem as cut and dried. I mean, Justin did throw a stake at his head, but Harry did have the voodoo doll in his hand.

I have a hard time believing the tv version as self-defense. Harry was already torturing Justin and certainly acting like he had intent to kill. It was Justin who acted in self-defense at that point. Justin hadn't been intending to kill Harry until Harry attacked him. It was an accident if anything; Harry fell on the voodoo doll and crushed the ring into it when he ducked the stake Justin threw at his head. No wonder the High Council doesn't trust Harry. No wonder Harry feels so guilty. I think the only reason they didn't execute him was there was enough doubt about his intentions and what exactly really happened.

(Understand, of course, I don't care if he murdered him. I like Harry anyway. And Justin needed killin'.)

All is well that ends in pizza.

For those who can *ahem*, there is a special edition of Weakest Link from 3-30-07 featuring cast and crew of Dr. Who.

Participants include the actors who play Doctor #10, Mickey, Captain Jack, Jackie Tyler, and three other supporting cast. Plus the guy who does the voice of the Daleks and Cybermen. Also K-9 shows up. Good Dog.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Yeah, the TV version makes both Harry and Justin come across as incompetent. 30-year-old Harry should be capable of not accidentally voodooing someone to death. And Justin really wasn't very menacing in the scene. Plus how stupid do you have to be to wear the ring you stole from someone in order to kill them in front of the person most-likely to recognize it?

With the book version, however, it's easy to see how a 16-year-old Harry, still growing into his power, betrayed by those who were his only "family" could do what he did, and why the situation as a whole could be considered self-defense.

Not that I think there is actually any good reason for it, but perhaps Justin, who apparently hasn't worn that ring for Harry to see until now, wanted to force Harry's hand and see which way he'd lean? I'm not going to try too hard to find a way to wave this away.

White Night has been shipped, I shall console myself with that.

Mine is still showing not yet shipped. Not even "Preparing to Ship" even though it's in stock.

Bastages.

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

To get back to the SPN natter... I got the next TV Guide in the mail (for April 9-15: the one with CSI Miami on the cover), and I regret to inform you that our beloved Winchesters have been pre-empted that week. Apparently the bastards in charge of scheduling at the CW have decided to air something called the Brick Awards in its place (no, I never heard of them either). Supposedly "praise and recognition are given to 12 young people for their community service." All well and good, I suppose, but couldn't they do it at a different time slot? Shouldn't those young people be tucked in bed by 9 p.m. anyway?

or he was just so arrogant as to think that Harry wouldn't notice. Harry probably wouldn't have remembered if it hadn't come up just before his dad died.

The best thing about the Weakest Link Doctor Who special was the audience gasping when David Tennant was voted off. You don't vote off the Doctor!

Speaking of which... the Tenth Doctor cooler than Gene Hunt? Discuss

Another fantastic episode of Life on Mars last night. But no preview of next week - the last ep - not even online. Bastards!

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I have the Weakest Link special downloaded, and I'm going to watch it asap!

I got my hands on a copy of "Proven Guilty," and I have no idea where it is in the storyline; but never have I been so grateful for that annoying recap authors put at the beginning of novels in a series, because it means I can figure out what the hell is going on.

Many fangirls are bemoaning the end of Life on Mars. Long live Life on Mars!
