"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Those of you who haven't had a chance to see Dr. Who might check your local PBS station. One here just started with "Rose" tonight.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

Channel 11 here in Chicago (the PBS station that was pretty much the center of US Who fandom in the 1980s) is advertising their broadcast of the revival--I got all squee-ey because it felt to me like Who was returning home, or at least, the place that I always considered its home.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

You know your fandom wins at geeky when it not only runs the statistics on dudes and mans by episode, season, and character, but starts figuring out the mathematical formula to describe the curve of an actor's back and ass, as seen here: [link]

Oh SPN fandom, you're totally forgiven for any wank for that one.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Snerk

So, here's my theory: Harry's dad was killed by means of the ring.

I think Harry pressed the ring on a voodoo doll and that's what crushed the blood vessels around Justin's heart. And the ring is either in the coffin or in Harry's possession.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Full points!

Did anyone else find that last exchange odd? It felt like it was pulled from the books or something, with a relationship just enough different that it just rang false?

It was a little odd. But I'm going with it. I wish he'd introduced her to Bob. Or that Bob had appeared in that last scene in some way. But overall - way cool.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

By the time Harry comes completely clean in the books, Murphy's already seen and worked with Harry on enough of the spooky stuff that it's more him clarifying things rather than it being a big reveal. So the final scene doesn't really map to the books either. The only simularities in both cases would be Murphy still recovering from an unpleasant supernatural incident that affected her mentally/spiritually.

Overall, I thought the episode was a letdown. Considering it was dealing with a lot of major issues: Harry's past, Bob's past, Harry and Murphy's relationship, and Murphy coming to terms with the supernatural, it should have been a two parter. As it stood, it came across as a little too easily wrapped up and Harry and Justin's magical smackdown was rather cheesy.
