I am the fly who dreams of the spider

TDF definitely had some moments where it was not bad, just a different tone/vibe, and it had some humorous moments and good parts. But there was plenty of bad dialogue, bad acting, and just plain bad writing and editing and camera-work.

Murphy was different in a lot of ways, but one thing that I definitely liked was how so much more pissy and aggressive she was with Harry.

Susan was completely horrid, she takes Bianca's place of bad actress that should never be seen or heard from again in my book. At least Bianca showed her "true colors" this time around (I'm still unclear if this reworked Storm Front is no longer intended to be ep 1, I have a feeling it's not. In fact, I don't feel like it belongs anywhere!)

But not to be all negative, I liked seeing the flash of runes/swirls on the hockey stick, I loved Kirmani busting Harry's balls in the beginning, and loved loved loved the torch-blower effect on the staff (small flame as it "idles" then flaring to life when in action!) as opposed to the electricity thing going on in the other eps.

Now, I love PB, but is he just kinda sucking at the whole "being in pain" thing? or am I just being a sadist wishing for more realistic agony?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

The sets were very different. The apartment wasn't the same, it was much brighter lit and brighter decorated, fewer candles, there was a basement lab instead of one concealed in the hallway (which is the way it is in the books, but I like the change better). I guess we're just not supposed to notice. Or maybe Harry moved.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

So I assume this was TDF pilot?

It was the TDF pilot, though it was originally 2 hours long, and that shows. It's very different in feel to the rest of the series.

Oh yeah -- the difference in feel, as well as all the exposition, is why I assumed it was the pilot. But two hours of that?! I'm having trouble imagining how they stretched it out that long.

Well, for one thing, they cut out all the Bob parts, because in the original pilot, Bob was just lights in a skull. They hadn't decided yet that that was a bad idea and cast Terry Mann.

Apparently in the original original pilot, Bob was the one keeping Morgan locked in the circle in the basement. Morgan started talking to him about sex and he got all distracted, and that's how Morgan got away. Heh. Sorry they had to lose that part!

Art Crawl!!!

Um, did the promo say that they were ALL Cylons? I'm guessing everyone who is hearing that music?

And Tigh can do FREAKED OUT looks the best.

Is that what he said? I was coming here to confirm whether I'd heard that right. So the people who heard the music were Tigh, Anders, and Tori - is that right? Not sure I'm buying the we're all Cylons thing. Unless, hey, maybe the 12 models thing is just bullshit, and there are hundreds of models! That'd be cool.

Interesting ep. Kinda thought Adama the elder was being an ass (which is what they were going for, from what I could tell), and I totally felt for Lee. Which is just weird. Eyes rolled forever at Dualla's flounce-out. Helo and the "There's a storm a-brewin'" was kind of cheesy, and I kind of loved it, too.

And the cancer is back. Eeeeenterestink.

Also, Anders! Yay.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

Yeah, TDF pilot was originally two hours, and I think it showed in the cracktastic nature of the editing in what we actually saw. They condensed a book into a two hour TV movie, and then condensed the two hour TV movie into a one hour episode and we pretty much got left with a mess.

So all I've got to say about this episode is: Yay, Mister! and it was nice seeing Harry actually looking like a wizard (and the runic circle effect for his shield bracelet was pretty cool.) Also loved the bit with the Blue Beetle in the shop.

The TV version of Ancient Mai continues to seem pointless and annoying to me.
