I just watched BSG, and I'm pretty crushed. In spite of and because of her flaws, I loved Kara the most.
Starbuck is one such character. She's a mess, and can be mean, and unfaithful, and drunk, and self-destructive, and is the baddest ass pilot the Galactica will ever see, and is so brave she moves me to tears. If she's a skinjob, it's going to be really hard for me to care about her in the same way. Ditto if she's a goddess. I'm not saying it will be impossible, but I suspect if she's not human, she's going to matter to me far less. Far, far less.

Ugh. That's just... ugh. Kill a loved (and despised) character to serve the plot, sure. But purely for shock value? It seems like a waste of a destiny.

I haven't seen SPN. I just know they fight demons (or something) so I was hoping the 'verse mesh would be smoother. I understand. Most of the time, I just can't read/write fanfic because it's not (D'oh) canon, which I realize misses the point, entirely.

Oh, that's right. I maybe kind of loved him for that, loving spoilers as I do (but the job should have gone to Tim or Jeff in the first place, anyhow).
The job did go to Tim in the first place—he was the Season 3 showrunner. Simkins came in for the start of Season 4 when he moved from Angel to Firefly.
