Well, I learned something from the Dean as beta essay, and I've always thought of myself as a big old beta. I tend to be drawn to beta boys, too. We've had the F'nor not F'lar discussion, yes?
Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I feel very out of the fandom loop.
I think I'm going to go read another plasticWinchester or the Tiara story to make myself feel better.
We've had the F'nor not F'lar discussion, yes?
No! We've not. But it's been at least 25 years since I last read a Pern book.
Oh, me too. But that was the first time I realized I didn't want to go out with the lead. Or, you know, make out with the lead. I'll just hang back here with the smart and efficient beta boy and let ol' Teeth & Hair take the limelight, and the spotlight off us.
We've had the F'nor not F'lar discussion, yes?
Do I lose my geek cred if I admit I have NO idea what you are talking about.
The first two books of Anne McCaffrey's Pern saga, Dragonflight and Dragonsomethingelse. The rest of them are pretty much dreck, except the two Dragonsinger ones, about the Harper guild.
Basically, the dragon weyrs are going the way of the dodo. The leader of the weyrs are two half-brothers, same dad, different mothers, F'lar, the elder, dashing, dark haired, flamboyant, temper to go with it. His younger brother F'nor is quieter of speech and thought, step and manner. F'lar is a good figurehead, and he stirs people to purpose, but F'nor is the one doing the research and figuring out what needs to be done and seeing that it gets done. So F'lar's the alpha, F'nor's the beta.
I've always been a F'nor girl, hands down.
Huh. It doesn't seem like Dean and Sam map to that very closely, though I do love them betas.
Wait, wait, wait .... back up to the easter egg .... there are easter eggs? I never think to poke around and find them on my own. Please provide maps for those of us who are directionally impaired.
I think that there aren't that many Easter Eggs.
Yeah, the first two Pern books are the best as are the first two Dragonsinger books (there are of course, a multitude of Pern and dragonsinger books.)
Are you talking SPN Easter Egg or DA? There's one on Disk 6 of SPN in the Special Features menu. When the "Day with J & J" is highlighted, the light comes on in the cabin in the background. If you navigate onto the light and press play, you get a special message from Eric Kripke.
