DVR owers will get more expensive cable, to make up for the fact they're not providing ad eyeballs.
Yeah, but not likely.
I don't mind product placement if they work out how to do it unstupidly.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Oh, now they have a great spot to launch a some of their new shows....
Or move their existing ones.
How committed is SciFi to a Tuesday line-up?
There was that hilarious Alias episode, where they were shilling the Ford F-150. Hilarious because, in the middle of a chase sequence, when Sydney was at her breathlessest, she was like, "Get into the splendiferous power-charged Ford F-150!"
And reality was like, "You mean the TRUCK?"
And Vaughn said, "Move over on those awesome leather seats. We have lots of room in the cab of this splendiferous Ford F-150."
And reality was like, "Go ahead and bleed on those leather seats, bub. And in the meantime, your nemesis Sark is having sex with your wife in a parked compact car. You need the room for what now?"

With Psyche and Monk doing well on a sister network, how committed is SciFi to a Friday line-up?
There is already a HUGE amount of product placement going on on TV due to the TiVo thing. We have a friend who works in that area, and besides the clunky obvious ones, there are more subtle ones, like what is on the shelves in someone's house or posters on a character's wall or what a person is drinking. The brand is never mentioned, it's just... around. Sometimes it's not even around--they might use a logo as part of decor, so you see it but you aren't aware that you see it.
DX, you don't like BSG?
I admire BSG, but I don't enjoy watching it.
IMO, "No, take the F-150!" was far surpassed by Jack and Nadia's "OMG this FORD HYBRID SUV is so QUIET! Great for SPYING!"

Like last week's Stargate with the Red Stripe. Subtle until you noticed that they were turning the bottles around in every shot to make sure we didn't miss the logo.
I have to say, of everything I've seen recently, SoaP wins at product placement. Not only are products X, Y, and Z totally hip and awesome because cool people are using them in the movies, when used properly, they will also totally save you from being killed by snakes.
Yeah, if you notice the product placement, they are doing it wrong.
I don't mind noticing. I'd have noticed Red Stripe any way they did it--just like if they were drinking a can of Coke.
In that sense, it's a good way to reinforce existing brands, but if they're subtle, how will you know they're drinking that cool new beer you haven't heard of yet?
Thence comes art.
If every bottle faces the camera...not slick. If one does, and the others show enough of the branding, okay.
See, me and mine do name car makes and models. However, no one says "Oh, let's get in the BMW 325 today!" It's either the BMW or the 325, depending. It's like giving the full address with zipcode, when you're just going two blocks over.
