A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Both are also criminally attractive.

And need to call me.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Throw in Michael Shanks and you've got the whole set. Limited Taur'i gene pool, as Vala said. But them's good genes, nevertheless.

And need to call me.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

So you're saying we should set up a phone tree? I could get behind that.

"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Having watched the last two episodes of the season, however, I'm now ZOMG TORCHWOOD!!!!1!

Hell. Yes.

SA showed me the two preceding eps, and I was all this-is-a-fun-show-to-watch-in-a-handwavy-TWOP-ish-way.

And then the finale. Holy mother of slashgasm.

Now, granted the finale was not visited by the Narrative Logic fairies, and I did so much frantic handwaving that I probably managed to spell out half the works of William Shakespeare in semaphore before my hands dropped off, and in particular the whole thing with neckchief guy was crazy inconsistent (although it would all fit together and make reasonably good sense if it turned out that he was secretly The Master (aka The Doctor's traditional Arch Nemesis guy, an Eeevil Timelord who travels around in a a TARDIS which seems to be stuck in the shape of a grandfather clock for reasons I forget...and this would mean that, no, he wasn't originally from 1941, he was just visiting in his capacity of Evil Timelord Eager To Destroy The Earth Bwahahahaha! type of deal. Except that The Master was always traditionally black-clad and roughly The Doctor's age, complete with pointy Beard Of Evil, iirc. So if this IS The Master, then I can kiss goodbye to my fond hopes that Russel T Davis was planning to bring him in for slashy sexual tension in the next (or perhaps next next) season of Doctor Who..

So...that would make more narrative sense for me, but would still suck.

Meanwhile, I quite liked Jack being a dick to the Torchies, especially to Owen, because he seems to be all EmoManPainAngelSuperHeroWithTragicPast!Guy most of the time, and it was nice to see him being petty. (And, OMG, the backstory! With the Big Angst! Which he shared with Very Pretty Original Jack!)

Torchwood, as far as I can see, basically IS fanfic. You gotta love Russel T Davis for being a rabid geek fanboy who managed to bring his Dead Gay Show back to life. And promptly shoehorned his very own Captain Mary Sue into the narrative, and then built a whole spinoff around said Mary Sue - only with all the sex and gay that wasn't allowed onscreen in the original canon. I mean, okay, so he's not great with the plotting, as far as I can see (or perhaps say rather his writing team?) but he gets a lot of brownie points from me for (a) setting the show in Wales and (b) filling it with teh sex and teh gay. (Also, I loved the wee blonde policeman in the finale, who was all "WHAT? What? No, that's bollocks. Sorry, no, that's just....WHAT?")

ion, I love Ianto, even though I can't spell his name. I love that he is Welsh, and that his superpower seems to be filing, and perhaps Googling, and that he has natty waistcoats. Bless him. He cracks my shit up. I cannot seem to help myself when he is on screen - for some reason the temptation to snap out his name, clap twice in an imperious manner and then issue a command is just Too Damn Entertaining.

("Ianto! [clap clap] File!" "Ianto! [clap clap] Pout!" "Ianto! [clap clap] Google!")

....yes, I am indeed easily entertained.

eta

Incidentally, I want in on the phone tree.

eta II

Have whitefonted plotty things - will the information that the show features a bloke called Ianto who is Welsh and dresses quite smartly too spoily too? (I'm so utterly unaccustomed to having any canon that you folks haven't all seen long since that I definitely don't appreciate the levels of spoilerishness that are considered spoily. Names of characters? Nationality of same? Sartorial choices? These are the kinds of things one might find on a website or a trailer for the show, were it to air, rather than plot-specific, but maybe that's still too spoily?

chews lip fretfully

What is even happening?

Flanigan is taller and has a leaner build, whereas Browder is a little stockier by comparison. Flanigan has darker hair. Browder has blue eyes. Both play characters named John that often end up in suicidally ridiculous situations.

Teach me, Sensei, for I have much to learn.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Fay, all the Torchwood stuff needs to be white-fonted, since it's not airing in the U.S.

The evil is this way?

Is Torchwood NEVER going to air in the US?

askye - Jan 04, 2007 1:35:08 pm PST #4915 of 10001
Thrive to spite them

I was trying to figure out which channel would show Torchwood and thinking about all the cuts and edits that would have to be made.

Narrator - Jan 04, 2007 1:39:07 pm PST #4916 of 10001
The evil is this way?

Will they sell the DVDs here without airing the show? If not, then I don't care so much who shows it or what cuts get made if I can get the original eps on DVD.

Sheesh. We're 'Mericans. We should be able to get any foreign show we want, darn it!!!
