Like most things, I am behind on the Torchwood viewing. I've only watched the first 3. Not totally sold yet, but I have the rest in my queue that I will watch before I make up my mind. I need to get to know the characters more.

For some reason the running short of water bothered me less. Perhaps because it's been how many episodes and the food issue has been completely transparent. Even introducing a replicator malfunction in Trek would seem more natural to me because we saw replicators all the time.

I need to finish the Torchwood ep. I was too zoned out and had to keep rewinding. I have these character questions I want to ask, but maybe they're answered in the next ten minutes.

Okay, watched it. Liked it. Different rhythm. However, my question remains extant--what's up with the Owen/Gwen thing? We've only seen it filtered through Tosh mostly, and nothing here. Also wondering about poor Rhys.

and in no way sorry she passed. It wasn't a Mineary execution, one where I suddenly end up liking the character before they get splattered all over the walls.

And, sadly, watching the ep, I was waiting for the "Minear" because I wanted her to die but I wanted to feel a little bit bad about it first.

Why couldn't there be a planet called Zeus? I mean, are they supposed to be in our system now?

Not that I know of, but they're looking for it. They're looking for earth. Finding it will entail entering into our system, right?

The food thing didn't bother me at all. The food got tainted in processing. That could happen. I really enjoyed this episode though, which I know always increases my inclination to accept whatever plot points get thrown at me.

No, I never really liked Kat anymore before she died.

I think the writers were always bigger fans of Kat than the audience -- I don't think they knew they needed to make us love her in order for her death to have an impact.

Not saying she was ever my favorite, either, but I did like her character a lot more than most people, it seems. I liked that she was tough but always a little insecure about it, always needing to prove herself. I liked her rivalry with Starbuck. I liked her big mouth. I'm actually going to miss her.

I watched the new Torchwood last night. Or rather I should say that I fast-forwarded through Torchwood last night, because I found the POV character to be so profoundly irritating that I wanted to stab him in the face. Shut up! Shut up! Shut up shut up SHUT UP.

Could've just been a bad mood, I guess. Might try watching it again. Did like Gwen a whole bunch in the episode, which was nice.

I never disliked Kat, but I didn't feel like she was enough of a character for me to really like her either; she was The One Starbuck Bitched At, in much the same way that Anders is The One Starbuck Luuurrrved (well, maybe), and in both cases, I feel like instead of developing characters they were telling me "look how you're being set up to feel about this character!".

I'm a sucker for the big damn hero deaths of characters I disliked, in all their Timmy "I'll make you like her and then kill her" glory, but this was more like a "let's watch how the puppetmaster sets up the story". And it was fine puppetmastering, but not an ep where I could stop seeing the strings.

I liked the POV character, but I can see why he irritates. I thought he was a vast improvement over Elton from the last DW ep to air in the US, which I mention because the two episodes are so similar that when I started watching "Random Shoes" I almost turned it off when I realized it was basically "Love and Monsters" all over again. But I ended up liking it much better than "Love and Monsters" -- perhaps due to the lack of giant hammy Fat Bastard-like grossout monster -- so I'm glad I stuck with it.
