My guess (and I've heard it from others) is that Sylar may need to do something with the physical brain to absorb the powers, hence the hands-free slicing and dicing

I thought that the was just a sociopath, but that could be it, too.

Also--the shot of Claire on those...oh, the wide shot with her in the auditorium looking behind her in panic with the looming shadow--did that happen? I thought Peter was with her when she ran.

I thought we saw it. She did the classic run and trip on the steps, and then Peter ran up behind her.

Well, if prophecy is unchangable, that means New York is getting nuked no matter what.

Ooh, good point.

Given what we just saw, I think it's not as unchangable as all that. Because Peter kept the specific painting shot from happening. At least that one.

Which one? We don’t know if the dead cheerleader painting was Jackie or Claire.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I gather this means I need to check my e-mail again.

No, that was just general excitement. You fail the broccoli test! (Totally unfair, of course. The broccoli test needs to take place in person.)

Except for how I TOTALLY KNEW you were excited, and I did in fact need to check my e-mail again, and-and-and... I think I have a fever.

Have we seen for sure that Sylar absorbs powers? I know he is a telekinetic with some other powers besides, but a power absorber? Are we sure?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

She did the classic run and trip on the steps, and then Peter ran up behind her.

Was it his shadow cast? I only noticed the shadow cast by her dad.

Maybe the cheerleader they were supposed to save was actually Jackie....

maybe in the stuff that mohinder found in the apartment?

I thought that there were two amphitheatre paintings. One with Claire lying on the steps with the shadow over her, and one with the amphitheatre empty with the shadow from the door.

I'm thinking of the one with Claire running away from the viewer, up the stairs/seats/whatever, and a shadow cast across them. Then there was one of the dead cheerleader in the foreground, with the silhouette of a person, and the shadow coming toward the viewer. I don't recall the setting.

I don't remember seeing that shot either, now that I think of it.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Which one? We don’t know if the dead cheerleader painting was Jackie or Claire.

People have said the dead cheerleader painting is Jackie. But I meant the disputed shot on the stairs, which never appears to happen. Peter gets their first, and there's no shot of just Claire and the looming shadow.

Have we seen for sure that Sylar absorbs powers? I know he is a telekinetic with some other powers besides, but a power absorber? Are we sure?

We do not know for sure that Sylar absorbs powers. But the brain thing, combined with the fact that Claire wasn't able to regenerate when her brain was impeded, makes it pretty damn likely that Sylar's getting powers by eating brains. Or doing something with the brains at least: the point is, the powers are in the brains. In that 90% we don't use, remember?
