What I would like to know (re: Torchwood) is whether
Captain Jack was already immortal when he met and made his promise to Estelle or whether he met the Doctor later? Because it's OK swearing to be with somebody until death do you part if you're not the one who's going to be doing the dying...
.
But I did like
the lovely affection between Jack and Estelle; it was clear that he still loved her despite her age, and she knew it was him
.
But what's up with
Soldier Jack throughout the ages? WW2, Lahore 1900s? Was this before or after the Doctor? Because he was a conman from the future who just happened to end up in 1941 originally, wasn't he
?
I liked the story, liked the
Scary Little Girl (TM). Though the ending was a bit confusing, yes. But Shirtless! Captain Jack is always good
.
Why do I keep reading here when I have yet to watch the episodes. Crack it is.
And I love Mohinder, even if his story has been kinda slow up to this point. So. much. pretty.
Yes. This.
Fiona, about Torchwood:
I like the idea that Jack has a few more decades under his belt than however much time he spent cleaning up after the Daleks in PotW then jumping back in time to join Torchwood in early 21st century Cardiff. For his sake, and for the creep factor, I really hope it does not turn out that he has been kicking around looking for the Doctor for centuries.
As for his personal timeline - it feels to me as if the incident in Lahore came after he became immortal. He did not show any surprise that he was still alive after his men were killed.
In reading the Wikipedia entry on the show I came across this:
On October 2, 2006, Emerson Electric Company, an appliance market competitor of NBC's owner General Electric, filed suit in federal court against NBC. The suit was regarding a scene that appeared in "Genesis" (the pilot episode) which depicted Claire Bennet reaching into an active garbage disposal unit — apparently Emerson's In-Sink-Erator — to retrieve a ring, and severely injuring her hand in the process. Emerson suit claims the scene "casts the disposer in an unsavory light, irreparably tarnishing the product" by suggesting that serious injuries will result "in the event consumers were to accidentally insert their hand into one."
so, now they're claiming that it's NOT dangerous to stick your hand in the drain? Besides, we've already seen that she injures disproportionately to the amount of force exerted on the body (she got hit by the football and it broke her neck), so that makes sense that she would get mangled.
she injures disproportionately to the amount of force exerted on the body
You know, I didn't think about this until Vortex pointed it out. She falls off a two? three? story rig, and all she gets is a dislocated shoulder and a few ribs poking out. But she gets rammed by a football (though I thought she got sacked by a player?) and it breaks her neck?
she injures disproportionately to the amount of force exerted on the body
I had not realized what a tremendously geeky sentence I wrote. wow. But what I love the most is that no one blinked at it.
What was the name of the Kid? Santiago Tyler?
the name is actually "SANJOG, Iyer" on the file folder that Mohinder finds.
Damn, I was hoping he would turn out to be Jaye Tyler's long lost relative, given Bryan Fuller's involvement with HEROES.
Now I wonder if Jaye had a tattoo. It would expalin a LOT.
Also, I was a bit confused by Matt's retelling of his origin story. He seemed like he was agreeing with Radioactive Man's story that the powers didn't appear until after they were taken by MBG, but Matt already had his powers before he was taken, right?
I thought he said they got stronger after he was kidnapped.
what a tremendously geeky sentence I wrote
You didn't cite any actual physics, so I think you're not even close to 11 on the geek-o-meter.
I think that they did. In the beginning, he could only hear the little girl. I think that if someone is "projecting" or thinking something very strongly, it affects him more, like in the grocery store.
she injures disproportionately to the amount of force exerted on the body
For fear of entering No-Prize territory, I find myself wondering if there's a minimum amount of caution and prevention that normal people exert that Claire doesn't, since subconciously she knows she can't be hurt.
