Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Which would make Ellen and Dean the mom and dad, and thus leads me to happy-making Dean/Ellen places.

Mmm. Yes. Those ARE happy-making places. I am calmly and reasonably waiting for fandom to go there as often as humanly possible, else I'll have to, damn it.

I've seen that argument before, and to a certain degree I buy it. From all that we've learned, Dean was the one who did the cooking and the babysitting of the Sammy, and I'll bet he knew how to get rid of bloodstains before he was tall enough to see over the washing machine.

One of the best things about SPN fandom for me has been the earnest discussion I read on Does Dean Know How to Work a Coffee Maker? My vote would be yes, for the record.

I still feel incredibly out of step with the fandom due to my total lack of investment in Sam/Dean.

I feel mildly out of step. You'd think, given my fannish history, that I'd be all over the potential Flowers in the Attic aspects, but no.

I rewatched Bugs and Home last night.

On Bugs: I think the theme of my Serious Rewatch is really going to have to be what each family says about the Winchesters. Which I knew going in, but which was hammered home by the part where what was set to right was the family dynamic of Clan VotW, in typical anvil fashion. I think I can tie it to IMToD without stretching too much.

And I should know better than to open my eyes when the bad things are on screen. Ugh.

On Home: Oh, DEAN. I still think Missouri was fudging the truth about Mary's spirit there, esp. given what Tessa told Dean during IMToD. SA, if you're on IM today, ping me. I want to mull over some stuff with you.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

And I want that piece of the piano music played during the basestar scenes, like, yesterday.

It sounded really familiar, like it was a deliberate parrot of a piece of music I knew.

I kind of wanted for JE to come write for my *other* favourite show, The Office, but this should be interesting at least.

Personally, I think she'd be fabulous on VM.

I would vote yes, but that he would rather someone make his coffee for him in the morning, like me. Edit: I really did mean "like I do" rather than "I should be making his coffee."

I feel mildly out of step. You'd think, given my fannish history, that I'd be all over the potential Flowers in the Attic aspects, but no.

Sometimes I think, "Dude. Is this what it's like for people who are incapable of seeing or enjoying McKay/Sheppard?"

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

It sounded really familiar, like it was a deliberate parrot of a piece of music I knew.

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is the first one I thought of -- same repeated three-beat chord.

Personally, I think she'd be fabulous on VM.

Well, that'd be a good fit, too.

You just KNOW he was totally showing up at Cassie's door with coffee and pastries when she had midterms, though. I mean, that would be so very, sadly, sickly Dean. The boy learned romance from a combo pack of Skinemax and Oprah: he'd bring you muffins like some earnest cracker version of Smoov B.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

There was a little bit of discussion of the Cylon mood music on The House Next Door. I contributed a remark at the bottom comparing the jumpy editing of Baltar's POV on the basestar to the editing in Terrence Malick's movies.

You just made me cry with laughter, because it's SO TRUE. Oh my god, heaven help you if you were dating that boy on Valentine's Day.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Ooh, yes that's exactly the mood. Mmmmmm, Cylons...

Art Crawl!!!

Hee, McStreamy the new nickname for Leoban.

I totally got a Mom & Dad with the kids in the backseat vibe from the scene of everyone driving back to the Road House that's just 2 hours from everywhere.

GS: If you had to choose between kicking evil in the head or the behind, which would you choose, and why? Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.

SPN: I think Ellen's issue with the Winchester boys isn't just what she blames her dad for, but that Dean lied to her about Jo being there, and then they used her as bait. I think the betrayal of trust, followed by endangering her daughter is set Ellen off, not what their dad may or may not have done.

BSG: An interesting episode. Also worried about Athena getting sick. (Was my first thought once I realized Cylons were going to just leave the Basestar there.) Agreed Apollo's instant weightloss was silly. Loved the scene with Adama, Starbuck and Tigh. I hate to see Tigh go, but I agree he's too broken to really go anywhere with now.

Yay for Starbuck losing the long hair (I normally love long hair, but it never looked right on her) and trying to get her shit together.

As P-C said, both sides were right and both were wrong.

But it looked humanoid. What is it a hybrid of, and how is it different from the Cylon models?

Based on the freaky underwater shots, the hybrid doesn't seems to be missing about half of its body and is interspersed with mechanical equipment, so I'm guessing it's a hybrid betwen the bio and the mechanical Cylons.

For me, the hybrid reminded me of the controller from Dr. Who's "Bad Wolf" epsiode in the way it was hooked up to everything and how it was talking.

Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is the first one I thought of -- same repeated three-beat chord.

That's what the music made me think of too.
