"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

So she's young, and yes, she's Ellen's child, but she's not a little girl. More or less an adult, capable of being responsible for herself, and choosing her own way, whether Ellen likes it or not.

Right, but, whether or not Ellen has legal say in Jo's life, she certainly has a lot of influence. It takes a lot of guts and a really big fight to do as Sam did, break with a parent and go off on your own (socially, financially). Even if Jo is 23 (plausible, although it's headspinny seeing a recent highschooler in that role), that doesn't mean she's ready -- or ever will be -- to break with Ellen.

And Ellen, even if she has no legal sway, certainly has the chutzpah and the ammunition to keep an emotional sway.

Art Crawl!!!

Is Alona Tal a recent highschooler? (I have no idea how old she actually is.)

"I make mistakes, but I am on the side of Good," the Golux said, "by accident and happenchance.” – The 13 Clocks, James Thurber

According to imdb, she was born October 20, 1983. So she is 23. Which is not to say that Jo is 23.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Alona Tal is 23, but I think Nutty is referring the the character she played in Veronica Mars, Meg, who was a HS senior last year.

Jo reads as a few years younger than Sam. Sam is canonically what? 24? And Dean is probably 27-28? I think Jo is supposed to be about 20 or 21.

Ah. I think this is where I confess that I've never seen Veronica Mars. (I know, I know, this is almost a capital crime amongst the Buffistas.)

Art Crawl!!!

Well, I think Sam is at most 22 -- he was a junior in college last year. I suppose I need to re-watch the pilot and see how many years had passed as of this time last year. (Roughly.)

Okay, he was 22 last year -- so Sam is 23 and Dean is 27.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think at 23 it's certainly possible (though not necessarily easy) to break away from your parent's say so.

When you're still living at home? On the lower end of the ease scale.

Trust my rage

No, they didn't. She just said she was an Angel of God, which was exactly what she said when Baltar didn't find a chip in his head.

I guess I meant what Debet said. They asked (and didn't answer) the question that we fans have been asking since day one. I just liked the fact that they seemed to be aware of all our questions/cristicisms, etc.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

It was interesting how little there was of Sam in this episode.

Meta reason for that: talk is that apparently during the shooting of this episode, Paddywhack had to have surgery and a resetting done on his wrist.
