Very Creeepee SPN this week.
'Him'
Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
On SPN: I want to know what kind of makeup Jo and Theresa use. I can't even make it through the day without smudges, but they can make it into a torture chamber without their eyeliner getting smeared.
Smallville: You know, you think they could spend a few extra bucks to make Jor-El's crystal not look like a cheap plastic Superman toy.
SPN: Agree with the creepy.
Looking at the previews, I'm guessing next episode is tying into the shapeshifter episode from last year.
Heroes: Had a thought. I wonder if Peter is going to end up scarred before Hiro makes it to New York. It might not be that Peter's scar in future!Hiro's time is really horrific, but simply that travelling back in time was the only time Hiro saw him without it. Any type of facial scarring tends to be noticable.
Just caught a bit of The Opposite of Sex on WE while channel surfing and was surprised they basically cut Colin out of the movie. It's been a while since I saw the too-hot-for-TV version, but I didn't think any of the footage he was in pushed past the PG level. What gives?
The scene I remember the most had him taking it from behind in a car. I'm guessing that was missing from the WE version.
His Lifetime movie is on this week. My TiVo should be getting it this weekend.
SPN: totally creepy! I had to look away from the screen for long stretches at a time. Also, I really love Jo. I hope she can be in lots of future episodes without getting her hair ripped out again (ew!).
I thought that they finally made Jo interesting this episode.
I agree - it does look like Dean's record and death from "Skin" will be making an impact next week. Should be good.
Shoot. "Skin" is one of the S1 episode I missed, and it looks like I'm gonna have to track down the torrent.
I liked the latest SPN a lot, and found the MotW genuinely creepy, which is always a plus. I enjoyed Jo quite a bit here as well, and find the widespread hatred of Jo kind of mystifying. It's not like she's threatening the bond between Dean and Sam or anything. She's awfully young, but the girl's got mettle. Also, Ellen = made of the awesome.
But most of all, I am v. happy that the show gave us a couple of substantial recurring female characters with agency this season, since the lack of that has always been my biggest problem with the show.
It's not like she's threatening the bond between Dean and Sam or anything.
Of course not! But fandom does not behave rationally where their Beloved Slash Objects are concerned.
True, true. But I had seen similar reactions even from people who are not into Wincest. I do get that you-and-me against the world vibe that Sam and Dean got going is one of the appeals of the show, and that was fabulous hook for the season 1, but I don't think that's enough if the show is to go on. It really took off when John came on the scene and we began to see an arc (both familial & re. the mythology of the show) and now that John is gone, the universe of the show needs to be expanded. And I'm glad that particular universe has some interesting women.
Plus, I don't get any sense that Dean is reciprocating Jo's crush on him. He treats her like a kid sister.
