Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Having no idea what happened to her (did he squeeze something? does just phasing through someone and holding it there freak stuff out?) it remains to be seen what needs to be done.

I don't know if Kitty ever did it, but both the Vision and Phantom Girl would just partially materialize their hand in the bad guy's chest, which apparently causes great pain and shock to the recipient. D.L.'s a long time comic book fan, so he knows this.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Oh, I thought he was choking her oesophagus from the inside. But I see what you're saying.

SA, re: Torchwood, I'm pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing so far, which is a bummer. I think I must have had expectations going in (that it'd be funneir, for one), and I didn't get it right. I'm still watching, though. I just loved Captain Jack so in Dr. Who, it pains me not to be in love with the new series. Ah, well.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

both the Vision and Phantom Girl would just partially materialize their hand in the bad guy's chest, which apparently causes great pain and shock to the recipient.

Seems to me that'd do more than that...that it would cause injury and not just shock. But the term partially materialise is variable in its interpretation even from me.

I think Kitty was at risk if she materialised in the same place as anything else...but I bet it varied by writer in the end.

D.L.'s a long time comic book fan, so he knows this.

I don't know if being a long time comic fan is necessary to work out that there'd be negative impact to having a hand through your torso.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Speaking of Torchwood: (responding to SA's comment)

Owen is a rapist. He is a loose canon. He's not interestingly messed up...

While I was watching ep. 3, I noted something I thought would get more discussion here: That Owen, who had used alien tech to rape people by pheromoning them into willingness, was forced by alien tech to experience rape.

ETA: Sorry, sorrry, sorry, wrong tag... fixed now.

All is well that ends in pizza.

It's kind of counterproductive for Hiro and Ando to go all the way to NYC just to go to Texas,

Texas is easily on the way from Las Vegas to NYC, btw, especially if they drive.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Ah I kind of thought that his hand was perforating her intestines or something (giving where it ghosted in) which is definitely fatal without medical treatment and has a good chance of being fatal with it. But I forgot that one of the conceits is these powers follow the marvel and DC comic book rules pretty closely. So maybe DL's powers do work like Kitty Pryde - meaning he gives shocks rather than tearing up internal organs.

Did anyone else's Comcast OnDemand skip posting Ep 3 of BSG, or is it just me?

Kitty does that? Consistently? I remember her phasing threats are more about phasing people into solid objects and then offering to leave them there.
