A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I'm behind in my viewing. No Torchwood viewing yet. Wah. Almost caught up with Heroes.
I don't want there to be very important info available on line with the shows I watch. Not enough time in the day.
His ethics seem to be only slightly less questionable than Jim Profit's.
DH keeps expecting to be shown a box off in the corner of his home somewhere.
Fiona, I agree that he's more
subdued. I missed the Captain Jack I grew to like by the time he died. But then he came back immortal, and I'll buy that that changed him some.
Fiona, I totally and completely agree with your first point.
In other unsurprising news, RTD is a big freaking fangirls who makes everyone
bi. What the hell? Not that I'm complaining, mind you, but that's three characters out of five canonically bi, with the secretary as questionable and the computer chick waiting for her heyday. No other show I can think of has that ratio of categorized-queer characters to straight chracters. Damn.
Man, Heroes was lovely. I get so squeeful every time I watch an episode. I loved Hiro and Nathan's conversation in the diner. It was interesting to me how much Nathan's demeanor changed between wearing his pjs and wearing his button-up. And how he was surprisingly kind towards Hiro. Very interesting. Also, the flying thing was just super cool.
I wish Mohinder would freaking own up, because the scepticism that was funky last week was trying my patience this week. But watching not-Jesse go back to Isaac and then finish the painting was freaking great. You could see the subtle transformation it laid in Isaac, where it was suddenly validating of what he was doing and what he was experiencing. Someone else got it; and frankly, I think that's going to be the thing to pull him out of his downward spiral. Plus, it makes what was kind of a boring love triange into something far more intriguing.
Erm, what's the Jim Profit reference?
Adrian Pasdar played Profit. I'm really enjoying him in Heroes. He's got what could be a really thankless role.
Just the freaking' hardcore way he blackmailed Lindermann back?
Uh, I could google, but what's Profitt? Is it a television show?
Yes. Cancelled by Fox. Apparently very good, but not mainstream since the main character was kind of a sociopath. Also, it's what Greenwalt modeled Wolfram and Hart after.
SA, your use of the word "fangirls" reminded me of Jack's very amusing use of the term
"retcon."
Hee. There was something else he said that was sort of fandom-y, but I forget.
It's a television show starring Adrian Pasdar and created by David Greenwalt -- there was quite a bit of Profit discussion in one of the Minearverse threads.
I just ran across this comment in someone's livejournal:
As far as Torchwood is concerned, RTD is writing a slash version of Angel...
Isn't that like saying someone's writing a slash version of Queer as Folk?!?
brain boggles, then explodes in a cloud of pink glitter...
At least in the original Doctor Who, Captain Jack was
not only bisexual, but also didn't limit his preference to humans.
I'm not
sure of the right word because I don't think "bestiality" should apply to a preference for multiple species of intelligent life forms.
With that in mind, I'm not sure
why anyone would be surprised that TW would stray pretty far from the straight.
