I have Torchwood sitting at home, too. If I'd had a little more time this morning, I would have put them on my iPod so I wouldn't have to WAIT OMG.

Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I knew about Buffy, but didn't start watching until after I got hooked by Angel.
Ah, I hope that works with my sister. She has been watching the morning Angel episodes and is hooked. I just sent her the first 2 seasons because she is watching 3. She wants it from the beginning now. Whee!
Okay, finished the first episode of Torchwood, and I agree with Fiona.
I did find it subdued, almost. But I'll keep watching, and I liked the Captain Jack revelation too.
I will have a major problem with the character who used alien technology to rape women in bars. That is not good. That is so far beyond not good as to be really, really bad. And I have no faith that it will ever be addressed.
Um, is Torchwood airing in the U.S.? Or is the discussion solely from Net-based sources?
(Hubs is a major fan of the new Who, and I'm sure he'd want to know.)
Um, is Torchwood airing in the U.S.?
not yet, but i'm sure it will if it becomes as popular as Who.
Sadly - not airing in North America yet.
I hope that Scifi or BBCA picks it up.
None of us Americans has acquired Torchwood from net-based sources. That would be wrong.
Downloaded [edit: heh, I mean, um, legally acquired!] and watched both Torchwood episodes last night, and I LOVED them (Shocker!). Gwen is fantastic, and I really love her totally normal, sweet boyfriend (wonder how long he'll last?) , and I just grinned every time Captain Jack was on screen. The bit in the first ep with Jack standing on the roof of that building, with the aerial shots swooping in around him from several different angles, made me laugh out loud. I don't remember if it had any relevance to the plot at all; it was just so perfectly "You wanted a Captain Jack power shot? Well, here's five of them!" And all the stuff in the second episode with the Torchwood staff gossiping about who he is and where he comes from was great too.
Oh! And in the second episode, Jack has the Doctor's hand preserved in a jar! And it's more important to him than almost anything else! Can't wait to see where they go with that.
ETA: the more I think about it, the more I think that Who is Buffy, and Torchwood is Angel, and that the comparison is fairly explicit. What do others think?
Oh, totally! That makes a lot of sense, now that I think about it. And the second episode of Torchwood even stole its plot directly from the second episode of Angel.
I think Torchwood is more likely to be on BBCA than SciFi, but I can't remember why I think that.
I'm fine with that. I'm guessing that BBCA is kicking themselves for not grabbing Doctor Who when they could -- thus the airing of season 1 on BBCA in November.
(Plus, if BBCA airs it so much more likely that the original UK version will show up On Demand.)
