See, in my fantasy, when I'm kissing you... you're kissing me. It's okay. I can wait.

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

I can definitely see why Tennant ended up dating the actress who played Rennate after they filmed this ep--wonderful chemistry between them.

i'm pretty sure they were dating before she guest starred, but yeah. the chemistry between them is awesome.

if i'm remembering correctly, very few people liked this episode when it aired in the UK. for me it was the realization that DT was my new favorite doctor. i believe my exact words were Christopher Eccleston who?

Art Crawl!!!

I thought it was a very touching episode.

What did people not like about it?

mostly the fact that the Doctor had left Rose and Mickey with no thought about how they were going to get home. i think they had issues with the fact that Eccleston's Doctor had promised to always protect her and DT's Doctor left her to her own devices when he jumped through that mirror to save Reinette.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Yeah, I was surprised to discover there was a huge wank about it because I loved it. Yes, it did bug me that the Doctor left the universe to its own devices, but...it was a sweet episode. Sweet as in cool.

BSG: Holy crap, BSG is good again!

Considering that I can think of three ways for the Doctor to rendezvous with Rose and the TARDIS off the top of my head, and I'm no super-genius, alien, Time Lord, why do people just assume that the Doctor was abandoning Rose and Mickey to their own devices? I assumed he pretty much trusted himself to be able to find a way back - yes it may well have involved a hideous amount of tedious travel along the "slow path", but why do so many viewers discount the possibility? The Doctor saw something that needed to be done, someone who needed to be saved, for which he must needs act quickly, and after which he could easily come up with a solution to incidental problems.

Bah.

RTD et al.do seem to like leaving a bit to the viewers' imagination.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Just to support WindSparrows' point . The Doctor could have simply lived through the 3,000 years and caught up with Mickey, Rose and the Tardis. But there was no need to wait that long. I seem to remember him encountering a lot of non-Timelord time travel gates and devices and what not. With all his memories he could have found one within decades. Or he could hitch a ride with one of his previous selves. Or he could find a way to put himself into suspended animation. sleep until a year or two before the time Mickey and Rose were stuck in, get hold of a ship, and catch up with them within hours after being seperated.

I wonder if my three are the same as WS's.

Pretty close - I hadn't thought about non-Gallifreyan time-travel devices. My other one is counting on the likelihood of him having another Emergency Program ready for Rose to activate it and be taken back to the Powell Estate if need be - and voila he only has to live through a handful of centuries before meeting up with Rose and the TARDIS.

There is considerable overlap between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the dumbest tourists.

Given that he's burned through 10 incarnations in a thousand years, odds aren't that good that he'll make it 3,000 in three lives.

My main issue is that I thought it was bad writing, or editing really; they apparently deleted a line from Rose and Mickey referring to them being able to trigger a failsafe to get home. Without that, the Doctor being all weirdly perky and cheerful without apparent concern for Mickey and Rose came off bizarre.

And I'm not sure I'm really convinced by the Doctor being so enthusiastic about being trapped in time for a few thousand years. The reaction in Impossible Planet seemed a lot more likely and honest. With external references I can fanwank him already having a plan in mind to nick the TARDIS from himself a few years down the road (since he's been known to hang out in revolutionary France.) But it's one thing for knowledge of the series to deepen impact; if you are relying on bits outside the story to explain the basic plot, it's bad writing.

What is even happening?

We knew Apollo would come and were so glad he did.

Poor Starbuck's all broked.

I could not believe that Tigh killed Ellen! I kept thinking, "I must be misunderstanding, he wouldn't actually do that!" -- and then he did it! It didn't occur to me at the time that she might know she was drinking poison, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I think she knew. She asked for a drink almost out of thin air, and sort of nodded when she took it.

I don't understand why Xena-Cylon is so attached to baby Hera. That's Sharon and Helo's baby, right?
