The Unit! That's the other thing I haven't been watching this season. I should fix that.
Eureka being on Tuesday is a problem for me because I'm so used to my SciFi shows being on only on Fridays that I have a Pavlovian "don't have to go to work tomorrow!" reaction to watching them. But I do have to go to work after watching Eureka. It's quite unfair.
BSG viewers, for someone watching the series for the first time on DVD, is there any reason NOT to skip to the longer version of PEGASUS in the 2.5 set over the broadcast version in 2.0?
Not that I can think of. The extended version is all additional and longer scenes, AFAICR, so there's nothing in the shorter version that wouldn't be in the longer. I watched both because the 2.5 box set wasn't out yet when GF and I got to the end of 2.0.
I'm so glad CBS has been streaming The Unit on their website.
DAMMIT. If I had known this, I'd have made DH watch the Unit on the laptop, I could have recorded VM and watched Eureka at 9 instead of the craptastic (and cut-off) midnight viewing.
This is what I get for not consulting the buffistas ahead of time. When will I learn?
They're streaming much of their shows--that's how I've been catching CSI too.
But I do have to go to work after watching Eureka. It's quite unfair.
Clearly something should be done about that.
Yay for the good ratings trend news, and I hope everyone who should come back does.
And in more shallow show talk - I loved Beverly's dress again (I guess I like that stlye, because it was almost the same as the one from two eps ago that I liked), and I loved Allison's dress when she was pregnant - such a pretty dress. Kudos to the costume department; I don't usually notice enough to comment.
I don't think that there's any reason to watch the shorter Pegasus when you've got the longer one.
Thanks on the PEGASUS feedback. Now I just have to get started on these fracking DVDs.
/Fi stumbles into the thread and falls face down from exhaustion after a marathon reading of 572 posts.
My lord, here there be TALK. And it doesn't help that I live on a small island off the coast of France which means I am always going to be a day late and $1=57p short.
I used to be known for writing post-ep dissertations, so you'll all be relieved to know I'm not in a dissertating mood these days. But I did want to weigh in a couple of thoughts on the (sob!) Eureka finale (and yay for pickups!) before I forget or get lost in BSG and whatnot because I have loved this show from the teaser of ep 1, and I don't often say that. It'll be an oh-god-where's-the-fic kind of hiatus. Also the problem with 13 ep seasons? LONG frakelling hiatus. And this year my four favourite shows were Eureka, Dr Who, The 4400 and Regenesis, so you can see this is perhaps a problem.
But I did feel as if I put a foot down on a step that wasn't there with this last ep of Eureka. I even checked the ahems, and nope, I hadn't missed an ep. But it does feel like one is missing between House Rules and this -- how and when Kim got back, and the reverse/reverse again dynamics in the Stark/Allison/Carter triangle particularly. Think I'll have to try juggling them back into shooting order and see if that helps, but I suspect not. Unless, of course, it's merely my brain going into swiss cheese mode again, which does happen with alarming frequency these days. Did I miss an explanation somewhere, or did Kim really just reappear out of the blue only to get zapped? Damn shame, I liked that character a lot and was hoping they'd bring her back.
Beyond that, I have a pressing question for the Canadians -- what the frak are 'tap pants'? I'm imagining those sort of shorty-short knickers like Allison was wearing (*cough*), but I'm obviously confused as to whether or not 'pants' means the same thing in Canada as it does in the UK. Help?
Oh, and HI back to those who said hi to me about ninety million posts upthread. I'll try to be better at keeping up. ::gulps::

BWAH! No. Pants in Canada and the U.S. means "trousers." Hope that helps!
how and when Kim got back
I got the impression she never left after she was all snuggly with Henry in her first episode. As far as "what happened when?" it's smaller than clonemeister deaging merrily offscreen.
But I do kinda like that stuff happens that we're not privy to. Otherwise it seems too "Dawn's in trouble? Must be Tuesday."
Tap pants are like girlie boxer shorts of satin or silk. They don't have elastic at the leg-hole, and are often edged with lace.
