I actually looked the haemoglobin thing up earlier. The average human body has about 3 grams of iron in it. By comparison, a nickel weighs about 5 grams.
So, they both had a whole bunch of nickel-plated steel Canadian nickels on their persons.

Apropos of the whole Magneto flying thing, how disappointed was I to find out that he really does fly by wearing metallic thread in his underpants ??

So, they had all this change in their pockets left over from lunch in the commissary, the fence really works, and when they started getting dragged towards the fence by their pockets, they just improvised the scene? Works for me.
