I'm writing up a storm this weekend. Since Friday, I've finished two columns ("How To Succeed As A Failing Writer" and the first of the new column over at WriteMovies.com, "Infante's Inferno,") along with the new bit of the weird-ass Oz and his "through the looking glass" Scooby Gang fic.

Best not to question it, I suppose.

And speaking of which ...

In the latest installment of "How To Succeed As A Failing Writer," the author extolls the virtues of reading comic books and writing Buffy fan fic. Does he know his audience, or what?

I know that virtually this entire thread is off Halloweening, but in my very small worldview...Nanowrimo starts tomorrow! I'm doing it again this year, but unlike last year, I have no clue what I want to write about. I want to be more character-based than plot-device-y this time, so...

I am taking suggestions for character names. Real world setting, so no Fancy McFancypants, please. First three suggestions are go. Thankyewverymuch.

Elizabeth Fraser. Elizabeth because DH vetoed it for Annabel, and Fraser because it's the front runner for my pen name last name if for any reason I decide not to write under my real name.

I'm doing NaNoWriMo in spirit, since rather than trying to write a novel from scratch in a month, I'm trying to finish a major edit/rewrite of one.

If you're going to write a novel, it might as well be a novel you enjoy reading, and especially enjoy writing. It seems to me that part of NaNoMoWri should be actually enjoying the writing....

I think NoNoMoWri's only goal is to get our words out. Some people self-censor too much. Their inner critics are too strong, and they can't write a thing, because they fear it's not good enough. If you just commit to pounding out anything, you get that first time over with. For some people just finishing something is a break through, and then they can go on to write something they'd actually enjoy reading.
