P-C -- HEE!
Gram drabble:
I can feel the sweat dripping down my face and can only imagine how much more uncomfortable it is for her. She has eighty pounds and 61 years on me, and she has never loved the heat. Couldn't tell by looking at her though. Her wrinkled hand is resting on the raised bed, the green sweet pea vines climbing up plastic stakes behind her, her cane pointing me toward the rhubarb on the other side. Then she is in motion, swooping toward the earth. Her hand snakes out, snags a strawberry I haven't even noticed. "This one's mine!" she laughs, triumphant as she pops it in her mouth. Juices dribble from the corners of her lips and she sighs, ecstatic. "Not like those things you buy in the store."
She is selfish in her fruit, generous in her genes.
You mean the grandmother did it? Wow, Red didn't see that coming.

MuHAHAHA! That's an Edmund Crispin or Margery Allingham-level character name. Beeyooteeful.
Kristin, that was a lovely piece. This has turned into a damned evocative theme. And if Nic gets that job today, I am making Hot Fruit (which is actually called Peach and Strawberry Cobbler with Lemon-Infused Shortcrust) to celebrate.
Well, I can send you the recipe; the fruit prep half was actually the baking drabble I did yesterday (or was it Wednesday?)
Deb,
That e-mail we were using the other day is being a little weird right now, so in case you don't get my insent...tell the Husband I'm vibing for him, and it's okay that you've not got the comments out yet.
erika, email came through fine, and backflung.
This is my first drabble that's not 100 words. I just don't want it shorter:
If the Garden had been in Jamaica, it could have been very different. Adam would have been forced to kill the snake before it ever spoke, just to stop Eve from screaming in terror.
We'd have gotten there eventually - we don't need encouragement to do the illicit. But would we have gotten the right tree? Or would we have been delayed by the creamy slipperiness of the custard apple, or the wine dark skin and crystal pale insides of the otaheite? Lying under the trees, staring at the sky, imagining we had indeed tasted what was forbidden, and that we did indeed know everything. Would we have looked at the complexity of a pomegranate and popped open another guinep instead?
Most likely, however, the man upstairs wouldn't have been so caught up in the Tree of Knowledge once we'd shown him the Herb of Relaxation.

OK, it's official - ita owns the 'fruit' category.

I'd say yuh, pretty much. Although there have been some really sensuous entries this time, yours among them.
