Thank God. Thesaly's out, so I went and wrung up a novelist friend of mine on the West Coast, just so I could tell someone. She's laughing at me, but she doesn't think I'm crazy.

Never felt anything quite like it, honestly. I mean, I've finished literally thousands of poems, articles, essays and short stories, but this... Man.
And I was seriously choked up when I had to do bad things to good characters.

I'm doing a panel at BayCon called "Fun Ways to Kill Your Characters." I think I'm seriously going to scare them; the ghost in "Famous Flower" burned alive, one of the characters is frightened into a heart attack...

In mememe news, I did a reading at my church's annual arts festival yesterday afternoon, and discovered that reading my own work is more like public speaking than like performance. IOW, I get nervous while doing it, even before a very small and friendly audience, while I can do things like perform in plays or sing solos before hundreds of people without the slightest stage fright.
