Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Congratulations, Victor!

In mememe news, I did a reading at my church's annual arts festival yesterday afternoon, and discovered that reading my own work is more like public speaking than like performance. IOW, I get nervous while doing it, even before a very small and friendly audience, while I can do things like perform in plays or sing solos before hundreds of people without the slightest stage fright.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

the ghost in "Famous Flower" burned alive, one of the characters is frightened into a heart attack...

Heh. Most everyone in Nihilist Chic that goes goes pretty violently, but at least a couple of them got off their "Fuck yous" pretty well. Karen's dad's death made me happy. Which, really, doesn't reflect well on me.

Really? See, cause I can read poetry at least no-problem, but I HATE public speaking. No talent for it.

It's something about feeling people's eyes upon me, though why the same doesn't apply to singing solos I don't know. And I'm not shy at all about speaking up in meetings or classes, as long as it doesn't feel like a presentation.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Susan, pretend it's a writers group. In a way? It is.

Thanks. Now I need to edit it. Blech.

Maybe I'll develop a quirk where I make people set up the chairs in a circle at my readings. Because I only get nervous when I'm by myself facing rows of people staring at me.

Heh. Call it performance art.

Now, the novel has gone to the hardest editor known to man: my wife.
