You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with until you understand who's in ruttin' command here.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Question.

I'm working on a piece for that new romance magazine, Arabella. They're taking submissions, they pay 10 cents a word and it's nice exposure. Plus, one of the things they list as being short on is "paranormal".

So I'm writing one of my patented ghost story mysteries, except as a short, with a hint of nice yearning hopeless love in it. Once I'm done, will someone beta the thing?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

How quickly would you need the beta turned around, Deb?

Oh, no huge rush. But it's a short story, not a novel or even a novella. Looking at about 2500 words, ten or so pages.

In that case, I'd love to take a look at it for you.

(Yes, I know I still owe you comments on Matty. Ever since Hotmail ate my nearly-done draft, I've been slow about getting back to it.)

Oh, cool! Thanks, Anne. I'm probably about 2/3 through; should be finished tonight or tomorrow.

If I only had a brain...

Me, too, Deb.

Betsy, want to read the first chunk and tell me if you think I'm going in the right direction? They aren't only looking for traditional romance stories; I posted the link in Susan's livejournal, but here it is again:

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Deb, I'd be happy to look at it if you still want betas next week--this week is probably the craziest one I'll have this side of labor & delivery.

Susan, you betcha. This week does sound nuts for you.

I'm looking at my very own bright shiny gallery page at Readerville, and blinking at it.

I'm still getting used to the differences between being published Before WWW and After WWW.
