Willow: Were there dolphins? Tara: Yes. Many dolphins at the pound. Willow: Was there a camel? Tara: There was the front of a camel. A half-camel.

If I only had a brain...

If only Mr. O'Neill had listened.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Even the badfic could not have prepared me for some of the things I had to read from the TSR game fiction slush pile.

To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Even the badfic could not have prepared me for some of the things I had to read from the TSR game fiction slush pile.

Try running poetry open readings for the better part of a decade.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

I'm stunned enough by some of the resumes and cover letters we're getting for my maternity leave replacement. I keep being tempted to send them my business card, along with a note saying, "Trust me, honey, you need me."

Question.

I'm working on a piece for that new romance magazine, Arabella. They're taking submissions, they pay 10 cents a word and it's nice exposure. Plus, one of the things they list as being short on is "paranormal".

So I'm writing one of my patented ghost story mysteries, except as a short, with a hint of nice yearning hopeless love in it. Once I'm done, will someone beta the thing?

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

How quickly would you need the beta turned around, Deb?

Oh, no huge rush. But it's a short story, not a novel or even a novella. Looking at about 2500 words, ten or so pages.

In that case, I'd love to take a look at it for you.

(Yes, I know I still owe you comments on Matty. Ever since Hotmail ate my nearly-done draft, I've been slow about getting back to it.)

Oh, cool! Thanks, Anne. I'm probably about 2/3 through; should be finished tonight or tomorrow.
