I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

today my office is moving. I find it HIlarious that they really think we will work until 2. I did about an hour and a half of work when I came in. ow. nsm.

We are "off" from 2-5, but then have to show up at 5 to unpack and I think the expectation is we stay 3 hours at that point (I'm kinda pretyy sure that ain't happening). ANyhoo I have a 2:30 massage and then I am getting a pedi and then I am going shoe shopping AND then I am going to have a cold beverage outside and people watch. WHEE!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Ooh, very nice! Want to meet for lunch tomorrow? Or any day in the future?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Is your new office a farther commute than before?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

WGN is running Homicide from the beginning, it looks like. The pilot's on right now.

Oh, Tim Bayliss. So young.

What is even happening?

So all those "Stay gold, Ponyboy" jokes aren't going to mean much to you, huh?

I know enough about it--stuff I just absorbed from the atmosphere. I took "Stay cool, Soda Pop," to be a Hinton reference, when it was used on Veronica Mars, even though I've never read the book. I also remember That Was Then, This is Now, and Rumble Fish, although I've never read them, either. I know about greasers and socs, even. I'm not sure how I missed them.

Gronk. Just got woken up by EM calling. Emmett's got a sore throat that she deems worthy of a sickday. So I've got to go fetch him. Plus my plans are shot for the day. Bother.

Oh, no. Sorry, Hec. I hope Emmett is feeling better soon, and that it's just a quick virus, or even allergies. My mother probably implemented her No-Fever/No-Sickday rule when I was about Emmett's age. So far, I have mostly had to fight with my children to keep them home, when they are sick.

Julia's the only one who's ever try to fake sick to date, so we had a heart to heart. My rule is: If you've had good attendance, and you need a mental health day, I'll probably let you have one. Don't fake sick, because thinking you're sick makes me worry.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Thanks for all the birthday wishes, folks!

I really really want to go to back to sleep, or spend the day on the sofa. If people at work didn't already know I was in Vegas this weekend, I'd consider taking a sick day, but I don't want them to think I'm too hung over to come in.

This is some awesome parenting. And a great lesson about getting needs met without having to be sneaky. Wish a lot of my clients could have gotten that message early on.

I have never understood why Homicide wasn't more popular in syndication. I heard that when they showed a L&O crossover on TNT, the Homicide half got better ratings than the L&O half.
