Congratulations to the class of 1999. You all proved more or less adequate.

information libertarian

I am weirdly curious about what the hell "meat-flavored" pasta sauce might be. Most sauces I've ever seen either have meat, or don't have meat.

Where do you come from? Where do you go? What is your scene, baby? We just gotta know.

Watching the LoTR disks I got this week. Dialing into work (boo!). If the weather's nice, maybe going somewhere and taking pictures, but I'm not sure where.

What is even happening?

Oh, I miss Kitchen Confidential. Bourdain as played by Bradley Cooper. There's no bad there. Stupid America.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I watch Giada with the closed captions on. Improves the show immensely.

Except you still get whopping doses of her smiling like the First Evil in "Conversations w/Dead People".

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I second Kalshane's request for sites with good resume writing tips. I need to update mine. For, uhm, practice. That's all. I'm not really thinking about quitting my job and moving back down South.

That which does not kill you should RUN

So, what are people doing for the Last Weekend of Summer?

Getting the hell out of here and going to Vermont.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Except you still get whopping doses of her smiling like the First Evil in "Conversations w/Dead People".

Yeah, I keep hoping that TiVo Series Umptybrazilian will have a "block the scary lollipop person" button. It would be useful for so many things beyond Giada.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I just got a new phone headset. I swear I only mentioned it casually on Wednesday. It's Bluetooth, so if my Blackberry were vaguely new, I could use the headset with both that and the desk phone.

What confuses me, though, is the handset lifter. It means I can wander around and answer calls on the desk phone. But it's mechanical. Very confusing. I haven't been able to work out how it's going to actually move. I mean.... move. That's just weird.

"Somewhere in this building is our talent." Toby Ziegler, my spirit animal

I like Cameron, though I agree that the criticisms are valid. I think I relate to her anyway. Deadwood on bedrest? How macha, JZ. A better choice than laudanum at any rate. Don't know much about cooking or food TV. This weekend, I'm trading a bunch of books to the used place, and maybe we'll have lunch and then I'll watch "Freedomland" on video.

Thrive to spite them

Sandra Lee is the BadFic writer of cooking shows. The other day she was making a veggie dip the "recipe" called for 1 jar of nacho cheez, 1 cup of sour cream, 1 container of sour cream with chives (or maybe cream chese with chives) and a 1 Ranch seasoning packet (or whatever you have on hand).

She put out pre cut carrots and celery and plopped a few in the dip so "my guests will know what to do with them."
