I told him I need to not be talked to when I get home from work, for a couple of hours, probably, and he wanted me to know that when he goes for two hour walks it's not cos he's picking up hookers. I would love to have my own bedroom. DH and I are together pretty much 24/7. He goes to his sports leagues and takes the boys to do stuff so I get down time. I go do my thing, but mostly we are together. I have always preferred to sleep alone. Really nothing to do with the partner. Just would rather have the bed to myself. I wouldn't want my own place though.

For me, I think the ideal is apartments on separate floors, right above/below each other. This has the advantage of separate apartments with the added opportunity for small tunnels through the ceiling/floor so our cats could move back and forth at will.

My alone time is at work, mostly. Children under 3 don't really get the whole "alone time" concept. But, I hear tell eventually they grow up and go to school and learn to read and atuff! For now, this is why God invented PBS Kids.

Minsc: I'm not sure I understand the question. I have two feet, do I not? You do not take a small plate when the feast of evil welcomes seconds.
When my girlfriend recently went through her housing issues, several of her friends asked her why she didn't just move in with me and her response was 1) Way too soon 2) His place is way too small which pretty much summed up my opinion on the subject as well. While my apartment is a comfortable size for me on my own, it's not really two people friendly. Especially not when one of those people is an introvert.
Honestly, I'm not in any hurry to get to the moving in together phase. I've already jokingly griped at her about assorted stuff she's started leaving at my place so she has less to transport on the weekends she's staying with me.
