'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

It's the whole 'Boy named Sioux' theory in real life.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

H. Crap, I read this as Little Richard Greico.

Huh. Me too, and I never even questioned it until your post.

Kinky's still running? Right on.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

OMG so funny:

A little while ago I put together a little application on our phone system so that when a telemarketer calls in, I can transfer them to this extension and annoy the hell out of them. I thought about it a bit more and decided to make it a little more interesting, so I can get them to hold on the line as long as possible. Today I recorded a bunch of different voices sounding really interested in what a telemarketer would be offering. Have a listen:

What is even happening?

Me, too. I'm glad you posted this, bon bon, because I couldn't remember how to spell Greico's name, and was too lazy to go to imdb.

Jesse, if you get a foot cramp again, flexing the foot sometimes undoes it. Also stepping flat on the floor (not carpet, something cold, like a kitchen or bath floor) can help undo it.

Tom, what does he say on the recordings? I just spent last night and this morning getting rid of random Trojan virus files, and am too gun shy right now, to open the mp3.

It's a recording of an actual telemarketer trying to get him to sign up for a free phone, with his voice on a loop saying things like "That's GREAT!", "Tell me more!", and "I'm really interested!".

hip deep in pie

I am at work and I am not happy about it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Our governor is mostly a figurehead anyway; so as Kinky says "Why not?"

Wait. I thought being the governor of Texas was the kind of big-deal job that would prepare someone for even bigger things. Are you saying our president doesn't actually have relevant experience?!?!

Jesse, if you get a foot cramp again, flexing the foot sometimes undoes it. Also stepping flat on the floor (not carpet, something cold, like a kitchen or bath floor) can help undo it.

Oh yeah, I do all that. This cramp was flexing and standing resistant. For a bit, anyway. It did finally go away.

Thanks, Tom. The story may just have inspired me to go low-tech, find a recording of [the supreme earworm] * "It's a Small World" -- preferably song by small children, ask the telemarketer to hold, and put the phone down next to my speakers and play the mean song.

Nasty resistant cramp. That's just not fair.

I hope this hasn't been posted before, an interview with Colin from the LA Times:

Our wings are not tired.

Ouchy Jesse. I haven't had a cramp in a long time. Might be vitamins.

Another at home day. Ernesto is hardly a storm, but the rain bands are heavy enough that driving is a bad plan. I went for a long walk with the dog after the last downpour. No damage really. A few branches here and there. Yay! Thank you Haiti and Cuba for chopping up the storm.

No annoucement on school for tomorrow yet. If they can close the shelters the schools can open. It was a nice trial run for the pet shelters that opened this year. People living in tin cans mobile homes in evacuations areas could go to pet friendly shelters. It makes a big difference. Even with a minor tropical storm several thousand people in my area need to go to shelters. They're not going if their pets can't go too.

I never know until I hit post if the internet is still up. On and off all night. And poopyhead satellite died after 33 minutes of Eureka. Grrr.
