I have a SF question: does "sensing the time continuum" mean something besides "being aware that time passes"? Because it sounds pretty unimpressive to me.

Well, maybe you could sense where the time continuum crosses the space continuum. Then you could... do stuff with the shields....
Anyway, "sensing the time continuum" sorta' implies the ability to sense things in the past and future.

Yeah, I think that's what they're getting at, but it seems like they should have just said so plainly. Of course you can sense time! That's why everything doesn't happen at once.
Can San Franciscans sense the time continuum? Go ask passers-by and report back!
