I think the heliocentrism thing was meant as snark.

These wackjobs hating "heliocentrism" (gee, everything is relative, isn't it?) just make me want to call for Buzz Aldrin to deck the guy, just like he did the Flat Earther a few years back.
They could be superheros! The "Ex-Astronaut Truth Team" or somesuch. (Astronauts all have superpowers as a result to exposure to cosmic rays, right?)
That was going to be my next question -- when it's a clear-cut case of statutory rape (at minimum), is it still libel to say so? (Since saying "statutory rape" doesn't define anything legally except for their respective ages.)
Well, theoretically he could be found not guilty (how, I don't know, but stranger things have happened), and there would not be a conviction, which would mean legally he 's not guilty of statutory rape.
I think that the papers would stay away from it.

Yeah, now that I've read the rest of the site - you're right.
Bah.
Things that do not bother me:
- There are people who do not believe the earth revolves around the sun.
- Newspapers that avoid inferring or implying crimes. Especially if I know all I need to know from the neutral language they do employ.
Incidentally this guy's confession still seems sketchy to me. He might just be a wackjob obsessed with the case. He has kids-- they don't notice he went to Colorado on Christmas?

In fact, they interviewed the ex-wife, and she gave him an alibi: [link]
I have to say, the New York Times article on the Ramsey story is making me wonder if this guy, while probably a nut and a pedophile, had anything to do with it. His ex-wife, who divorced him the year he was charged as a pedophile, says he was home with their family in Alabama at Christmas 1996, and also that he was obsessed with the Ramsey (and Polly Klass) cases.
Also I can't help wondering if he was teaching in Fay's new school!

Yeah, his wife is claiming he was in a different state at the time.

I've heard that theory, bon bon. I won't rule it out pending knowing more (like, as you point out, where he was at the time of the killing). But either way, he's creepy.
(ETA: Posted before I saw the posts about the ex-wife's statement.)
Bah.
FWIW, I'm still glad you posted the link -- it looks like a good blog, and I didn't know it before.
flea! I feel like I hardly see you lately! It's almost like there's some new thing in your life keeping you busy!
