There's an Asian instructor at krav who converted to Judaism. I love how he gets asked "Really converted?" And, yeah, I asked him too. Yeah, really. He's more observant than many of the practicing born Jews there.
My lunch BLT made with a tomato from my garden has reinforced my bacon love. Would it count if I only ate bacon when there were good tomatoes available?
Brad Bird's movies, The Iron Giant and The Incredibles have good mother-child dynamics.

Mulan is interesting, because Mulan has both parents and a grandmother still alive and kicking, plus she runs off to war because she can't stand to see her parents have to say good-bye to each other. Plus, the girl gets to kick butt physically, instead of just being clever and having access to magical thingies--though that certainly helps Mulan.
