Do I wish I was somebody else right now. Somebody not... married, not madly in love with a beautiful woman who can kill me with her pinkie!

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

My brother lives in Beijing but his fiancee is from a smallish city in SW China, Guiyang. So that's where the wedding is. We're flying to Hong Kong for 3 days and then on to Guiyang.

I'm on hold with the airline to confirm my flight. They don't have a record of my reservation because I booked through Cheapseats.com. YIKES!

Oh, Beverly. Strength and peace to you and yours. {{hugs}}

(I probably won't be checking b.org while I'm gone: may you all have a safe and pleasant week.)

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Stop talking about moving to PDX. If more Buffistas moved there I might be convinced, and I HATE MOVING.
I've done my part. Who's with me?

It's the airport abbreviation for Portland. And somehow it got expanded to mean the whole city.
I don't know if it's actually common outside of geek circles
I hear and see it *everywhere* since moving to PDX. Then again, we've got a lot of geeks.

Safe travels Consuela.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yikes indeed! Good luck.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Apropos of nothing, are there any Buffistas in Charlottesville, VA?

Just saw this. I don't think there are, though there are UVA grads. I live near Dulles Airport, and I think I'm closest.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Watching Finding Nemo and making dark chocolate cupckaes and ganache.

Speaking of Nemo I've been pondering that I can't think of many animated movies which have featured a mother-child relationship at the core.

We saw Monster House yesterday and it was much better than I expected. We saw the 3-D version and the effects were spectacular. Even without the 3-D though, it was beautifully made and detailed, and much scarier than expected.

I enjoyed it a lot more than I enjoyed Cars, which I'm thinking will be one of Pixar's least loved pictures. Which is unfortunate since I actually know somebody that worked on it. Oh well, they'll bounce back with Ratatouille.
