They make you taste it, I guess that's something.

I've heard of people being made to taste breast milk, so it wouldn't be unheard of with formula.

She doesn't drink formula. (Fortunate that I should be able to take my breasts onto the plane with me, not that I breastfeed much during the day any more). She drinks water, but only out of a special sippy cup. She also doesn't like jarred baby food, so I make her lunch, and was going to take a jar of that along. If I can't feed her on the plane, I'll need to do it when we change planes in Amsterdam, though I'm not sure quite how that will work if I have to check in my hand luggage for the whole journey. Maybe it can go in the hold, along with the pushchair.

Also not sure what I'll do if and when we need to change a nappy.

Oh well, we'll work something out.

Edit: just checked the website of the carrier we're flying with; here's what they have to say:

For those traveling with an infant: baby food, milk and sanitary items essential for the flight.

So we should be OK. The restrictions also appear to be just for flights leaving the UK, so we have a bit longer for that (29th August).

I am seriously thinking about in-house counsel, though I'm on the litigation side. Billing hours sucks, business development sucks...

bon bon, I know I'm coming in late to this, but the federal government uses a lot of in-house counsel. Generally, the Justice Department does the heavy litigating and relies on in-house counsel at the agencies for a lot of the nuts and bolts.

It isn't as 40-hour-week as the government's rep would suggest, but it's usually a lot closer than firm work.

Just popping my head in to say thanks to Ellen, Nutty and Frank for coming to my reading at the Boton Poetry Slam last night! It was much fun to see them there. Serious night of "When Social Circles Collide," with a handful of Buffistas, a few poets whom I know but don't really go to readings (and who, alas, didn't read, although I drank with them afterward) an old friend from back when I was in college in England and an old friend of Thessaly's from when she was just out of college.

Head nearly exploded. Too much fun. Hope everyone had a good time.

Certainly did. The bus trip home made it unlikely I'll be doing that kind of thing all that often (although once the car situation is resolved, I can mitigate the problems of getting home a bit), but otherwise, the evening was good fun.

Such a last minute decision too. I was going to hit the train to Salem around 6, then decided to stop at a store first. When I got out of there, I just decided to walk over to the Red Line and away we go.

I also tried a tasty restaurant in Central Square (Rendezvous) that I'd been meaning to get to, so all-in-all, a satisfying night of spontaneous behavior.
