ETA: And it's a measure of how battered I'm feeling by the last couple of months that rather than being happy they caught the guy who killed JonBenet Ramsey, I'm almost crying for her poor parents who had to go through all that.

I am so with you on this. One article I read said that the Patsy knew they had a suspect before she died. It breaks my heart that she won't see this person brought to justice. She deserves that, if nothing else.

Also, it feels weird to have lived long enough to see a "cold case" potentially solved.

So, I was talking to mom last night, and she mentioned that she needs to make this month's quilt this weekend. I had forgotten that quilt class is a week early this month, because they're closing the shop for the last week in August to do some renovations (can't WAIT to see it when they're done! Supposedly there's going to be MORE FABRIC! I'll be in heaven). But, I was so hoping to have a quilt done to show off this month, but since I haven't even unpacked my quilting stuff, I doubt that's gonna happen.

Who knows, though. I could blow off going to the old apartment this weekend and just sew all weekend. That would be nice. Also detrimental to getting the old apartment ready for new tenants. Why do I have to be such a responsible person??

What is even happening?

I'd rather get the old apartment done and off my mind. I know you love quilting, but I also know you'll love the relief of never having to deal with your old landlords, ever again. Talk about EXCITING! t /stick in the mud

Yeah, that's basically how I feel, Cindy. Want to just get the damn thing done with. And so I will soldier on!

The doing won't be pleasurable, but the relief thereafter will. That's what I tell myself whenever I have to do "have-to" stuff, when I have all sorts of "wanna" stuff. I seldom believe it in my gut, 'til I get the relief, though.

What do you have left to do at the old apartment, anyhow. And don't laugh (okay, go ahead) but isn't Not!Emily! Not!Even!Close helping out, in any way?

Trust my rage

This makes me happy to hear. I always wondered if the parents were somehow involved and I'm both happy to hear they weren't and sad to know that they had to live through so much.

Oh, and I agree - it's weird to think that I'm old enough to see a cold case solved. I'm so curious to know what led them to this guy. (Oh, and it seems like if something creepy is going to happen, it's gonna be in Thailand.)

Oh, god. Do I have to list it? There's all the stuff we're currently selling on half.com. And while, it's selling, which thrills me to no end, it's not selling quite fast enough. I'd say we've got milk crates of 200-300 things listed still. So, I have to decide where that's all gonna go when we have to be out.

Then there's stuff of Emily's I have to deal with...send to her, put out to trash, etc.

Then there's my room (I left behind all the things I didn't want to deal with. Yeah. That was a smart move. 'Cause I'd want to deal with it *more* later).

Then there's the living room. Ugh. The living room. Must get rid of all that furniture, and the couch has to go out the window and over the balcony, because you can't get it in and out any other way. This is going to cost us $150...more than I'll be able to get for the couch. Mike is supposed to be taking the coffee table, so that's something. Then there's the papasan, some other misc. small furniture, and the filing cabinets that need to go out to the curb.

Then there's cleaning. Now, this apartment hasn't been empty in seven years. Imagine how fun the cleaning is going to be!

And don't laugh (okay, go ahead) but isn't Not!Emily! Not!Even!Close helping out, in any way?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! I can't get him to get his room empty, nevertheless help with anything. I can't even get him to pay bills he owes us. That boy better not leave behind that HUGE, HEAVY fish tank filled with fish that's still in his room! (Actually, got an e-mail from his GF yesterday. They were in the process of setting up a new, bigger fish tank for the fish, so they'll be gone in a process.)

So, yeah. Lots to deal with. I'm going over there tonight to deal with the trash situation that Not!Emily left for me (the balcony is overflowing with trash love). I'm hoping to have J come with me, so we can do a run from Cambridge to Rozi. If not, though, I'll stack some stuff up to do on a trip over the weekend. Gonna take pictures of the furniture I'm getting rid of and make an inventory of misc things (mostly kitchen) that need to disappear on Craigslist or Freecycle.

vw, I don't know if Central Square will frown on this, but when we moved, we basically had only enough energy to have the movers (we couldn't even do it ourself) pile everything that wasn't being moved up on the curb for scavengers or garbage.

If that helps. Throw it out! Probably doesn't help.

Oh, I'm throwing lots of stuff out. Tonight is trash night, which is why I'm going over today. Hopefully, if I can deal with the stairs ok, most of it will go out tonight.

ION, yay for Restaurant Week! I met my cousin for dinner at an Italian-Peruvian place in the North End called Taranta and I had the "pan roasted fresh cultivated P.E.I. mussels with Sicilian Marsala and tossed with Italian Bacon and roasted shallots" as an app, the GNOCCHI DI YUCA AL RAGU’ VERDE STILE SECCO PERUVIANO, Cassava root gnocchi with a slow braised “Chicha de Jora” green lamb ragu and shaved parmesan (Spicy) as an entree, and a cheesecake with papaya on top for dessert. All for $30.06! (plus tax, tip, and drinks)

Love Restaurant Week.
