Thank you all so much for the help on the baby registry / basic lists of What Babies (And Their Adults) Need.
I just got home from Pamela's. Julia is wonderful and amazing. We created a baby registry, designed and ordered the baby announcements, ordered some pictures of the happy family to enclose in the announcement, worded an email annoucement for those who might not realize that P and DH were planning to adopt, chose colors for the baby's room, held, fed and snuggled the wee one and generally fawned over her and hung out.
The posts here were an enormous help and Pamela wanted to be sure I thanked you all. Buffista advice and suggestions are gold star to her (and me, but this isn't about me) and she really appreciated all of the help.
I think I am going back over there tomorrow. I am such the happy aunt today.
When I left, Pamela and her DH were sitting and just in awe of their new daughter. I admit I cried a little again. They have wanted this so badly and are going to be wonderful parents.
DAMMIT! I just found a craigslist listing for a little tikes activity garden and I'll bet it's already sold. *sigh* I've been looking for one of those things for over a YEAR.
Bessie the carpod was working when I drove home.
Now, NSM.
Sad.
Poor Bessie. More importantly, poor Lee. Smelling salts?
Chocolate?
I'm told I shouldn't buy a new one right now too, since they are coming out with new shiny ones in a few weeks.
I think I may need methadone by then.

Do you want the Shuffle back, sweetie?
Oh, and I take no responsibility for your sunburn, but I will happily buy you a mojito.

I'm so happy for Pamela and her DH, and for baby Julia who is now in such a good loving home! Best news!
Ok, music and age is funny.
Tori Amos was my melancholy, self-absorbed, sad, depressed, misunderstood, wallowing music in the 90's. Specifically "Little Earthquakes."
Now, it cheers me up. ETA: Not like, "Ohmigawd! I'm so hapy!" cheer me up, but I actually appreciate it and like listening to it more.
So odd.
I think I may need methadone by then.
Genius Bar before we call TOD?

The times they are a'changing?

It just really is.
I was such a wreck when her Hodgkin's recurred and then the bone marrow transplant. And I came here in my meltdown.
It is so wonderful now that I get to share this happy news now. I'm just thrilled to see her not just healthy but holding her child.
Do you want the Shuffle back, sweetie?
Nope-- still got the nano and the really old one.
Oh, and I take no responsibility for your sunburn, but I will happily buy you a mojito.
I can live with that.
Genius Bar before we call TOD?
I guess.
Yay for Pamela and family!
