Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Ellie actually was diagnosed with pretty severe thrush today. It doesn't prevent her from eating out, but "We had to take her to the dr. today" sounds pretty good.
OUCH! Is she still nursing? Cause that can suck for you, too. Good luck clearing it up.
I thought life ended with marriage.
That's a myth, actually. Studies have shown married people get more sex, live longer and are healthier in general. Sorry. But unmarried folks get to go out more and don't have to deal with someone clipping their toenails in the living room or not rinsing the dinner dishes.
Grrr. I had an unpleasant afternoon, but I vented in LJ so I'm going to let it go, now.
I will tell you that DH bought a full-sized van as a camping and touring vehicle, for an absolute steal of a deal, and is completely besotted with it. I'm happy for him being so happy. We went for a ride today, as a distraction.
It rides like a Greyhound bus. Which, cushy and roomy, okay. But not my sort of thing. I like to drive, I'm a good driver, and I like a small, responsive, nimble vehicle that will slip in and out of tight spots, evade behemoths and move when I ask it to. The van? Not so much. In an effort to summon some affection for it, I called it Bertha, because...big, but also, it has a berth in the rear.
DH said, "We could always just call it Van."
Morrison!
Johnson!
Helsing! Ding ding ding!
"This is my Van, Helsing."
Happy happy birthday, Aimée!!
I've ... lost track of everyone that needs sympathy and ~ma. I know I'm wishing extra strength for Bev, Sean + S, and Calli.
I wore pants today for the first time in... thinks... a very long time.
waits for Jilli to swoop in
Trousers?! Crazy person. It's like I don't even know you. Except for that I have a cute girly punk-rock-ish top to send you, and going to figure out how to teleport into your closet and borrow the LS jacket.
In me me me news, could someone please make my work deadlines stop multiplying? Pretty please? I'll invite you to a tea party with Clovis and JessicaKate and everything!
Sunil, with what you're saying about figuring out budget stuff with the new apartment and everything, you might want to check out The Money Guide for the Young, Fabulous, and Broke by Suze Orman. (I might have the title slightly wrong.) My older sister recommended it to me, and I found it pretty helpful in figuring out budgeting and good credit card decisions and stuff like that.

Poor, Ellie. Quick healing~ma to her.
I want to go to a Jilli teaparty!
Thanks for the tip, Hil! I'm really not broke, per se, but I don't want to
become
broke.

I thought married men lived longer, but married women lived less long. Has that changed?
Happy Birthday Empress!!
and, because I'm a doofus and completely forgot yesterday,
Happy
belated
Birthday Katie Bee!!
Much ~ma all around. So many Buffistas are having so many difficulties, and it's just
wrong!
borrow the LS jacket.
I'd be more than happy to lend it to you, actually. It's not quite fitting right now (I managed to gain the North Beach 10. Or is it the Post-Divorce 10? Anyway), and it's a bit formal for my current life.
Poor Ellie. I hope she gets over her thrush quickly. That's no fun for little ones, or for Mommy.
Sunil, I have no idea what to tell you to do about your parents' expectations for and designs on your future, because I'm not immersed in your culture. Everything you say about your family sounds like the sort of thing that would send me on a rampage. As a confirmed introvert who needs my space and my solitude, I'd have decked every one of them by now, were I in your place.
In short, I'm really glad I'm not, and I'm really sorry you are. All I can suggest is distance, distance, distance, and it doesn't sound like that's actually possible.
