[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Health~ma for S, peace and calm~ma to Sean from me, too.

So far today I have: fed the children twice, changed Aidan a lot, taken the dog out a lot (only one accident today!) talked to clients on the telephone, handled a few minor things by e-mail, and started sorting paper I need to file. There's an awful lot of paper.

Today no children screamed or even talked very loudly during my telephone calls. I am very happy with them. They got mac and cheese for lunch instead of PBJs.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Oh ((((Sean and S)))) I hope for the best outcome for you, loves.

A study of the theories of literacy, in its relation to human thinking and to social uses and contexts; and of the practice ofliteracy, in the teaching, learning, and use of literate behaviors in contemporary American society. The course links the active investigation of literacy issues with related readings, and draws implications for the teaching of reading and writing and for the study of literature.

I would be all over this one like white on rice, in view of current religious and political jockeying. Just how much can political oppression or directive influence literacy, regarding the information that is withheld or edited to suit the desires and goals of the government in power? This one would be my meat.

Hec, I'm aware of your prospect for the future, in fact I've been wrestling with it all morning and refusing to lay it out for my nearest and dearest as one possibility. I did discuss it in email with a close friend, who has assured me she's fine with being used as a virtual punching bag. But while prepared for that eventuality, I have to try to believe in JZ's more positive outlook.

What's complicating things further is that his ex has custody of the kids. They lived in a very rural, economically depressed county, and the court system there has an automatic bias in favor of the mom, unless she can be proved to be pimping the kids out, or a falling-down drunk or crack addict. Hos apparently have more rights to the kids than dads do. He has been working on getting his life together and preparing to take on the courts to get at least partial custody, but it hadn't happened yet. So things are complicated by the fact that she may simply deny us access to the kids, can tell them anything she wishes about his condition, and also prevent them from visiting us and therefore, him. So we may have a court battle on his behalf in our future, as well, if he's to preserve any sort of relationship with his kids.

There hasn't been any change in his condition, which is good, since he hasn't deteriorated, and normal, since they told is he could be this way for a week "or more." And bad, because I miss him. And I may always have to miss the person he was.

Sorry. That's where my head is this morning. It'll be better in a while.

Nora, I'm so sorry about the unauthorized charge. There should be some consumer protection about that sort of business behavior, and Tom should know it isn't his fault.

Thanks, Aimee love. But you deserve sparkly birthday wishes all your own today, with cake! Happy Birthday, love.

I'm getting the pig!

Mmmm... avocado. Yum. Now I want avocado. Maybe I'll have to trek to CPK for lunch today.

If not CPK, I have to go *somewhere* for lunch. One of the guys that works in the cafeteria asked me out on a date yesterday and I turned him down so now I can only go in the cafeteria when he's not in there. (Not because he's pushy or anything. I'm just lame.)

Still thinking of you and your family, Beverly.
