vw, is it maybe a delayed reaction to being in a new place?

Maybe. But it's been a week. I kind of thought he'd gotten used to it.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

eta: vw, sometimes it takes longer than a week. He may be reacting to a new smell or new sound that you're not even aware of. Garbage trucks, street sweepers, delivery trucks, another dog moving in somewhere else in the neighborhood; there's all sorts of stuff that could be routine-but-occasional that he just hasn't encountered here in the new place yet.

Happiest of birthdays to the sparkliest of Empresses!

Happiest until next year's even shinier birthday, that is.

Bev, I'm so very, very glad that StE is breathing and moving. And I'm willing to be more hopeful than Hec -- or at least to say there's no way to know yet, not until he's really responding and interacting again. But the fact that he's breathing and moving and physically responding at all this soon after the accident really is a good sign.

Um, not that I know anything except what I've read in a shitload of Oliver Sacks and other neuro-for-the-layperson books and knowing people who've had catastrophic strokes, but I do know that the longer someone is completely unresponsive and on assisted breathing, the more lengthy and difficult rehab is going to be, and StE is already out of those woods well less than a week after the accident.

But, oh, I'm still all heartaching for all of you, and you're all in my thoughts.

Ok. Thanks, guys. Calming down, and so is he. Maybe he was reacting to me reacting to him :).

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Happiest of Birthdays Empress Aimee!

Timelies. It's very good to hear that StE is moving and breathing and responding to things.

JZ, I hope the 3 weeks goes by quickly and peacefully; boringly for the halloweenie, but more fun for you.

We had pancakes for dinner last night. I let Kara choose.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Happy birthday, Empress! May it be frabjous!

So good to see Bev's font, and with goodish news. That sounds like progress, keep-getting-better~ma for StE.

Mmm, pancakes. That sounds good.

Loved the photo of Toto under the table. Currently, Pookah's favorite spot seems to be jumping in the childrens' faces. Today they've decided they're afraid of him. I'll take them out and run them all around the back yard in a bit and that will help settle them all down.
