Teppy, I'm just happy to see you discuss the topic without it being painful.
Oh it still is, a little. But not nearly as much as it used to.
'Objects In Space'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I once commented to my (ex) brother-in-law the particle physicist that scientific atheism was a fundamentalist dogma, and he about choked.
and that Athiesm, by virtue of believing firmly something scientifically unprovable was just as much a religion as any other.
Yeah, I can't agree with that. To use a quote I saw somewhere recently, for me personally, "if atheism is a religion, then "off" is a television station."
There are some flavors of athiests who do seem to have some sort of bone to pick with everyone who thinks differently. That's not inherent to athiesm, though, even deeply felt.
Yeah, I can't agree with that. To use a quote I saw somewhere recently, for me personally, "if atheism is a religion, then "off" is a television station."
That analogy bugs me though. Believing in "Off" in any way implies that there is an "On".
I was the biggest pain-in-the-ass collegiate atheist ever. There must be a God(or something) if I'm no longer doing that. Life has messed with me enough that I'm not sure enough to be a believer or an atheist.ETA: Deena, have an awesome birthday.
David, I'm listening to Shadowland and Earlier k.d. lang. Country k.d. instead of Crooner k.d..
Have you ever seen the video of her from that era where she's got her flattop and western wear and is sitting at a table with a cigarette, singing Patsy Cline? That's back in her performance art days.

Yep.

Heh, and now I'm flashing back on SNL and Kyle McLaughlin as KD Lang.
Yeah, I can't agree with that. To use a quote I saw somewhere recently, for me personally, "if atheism is a religion, then "off" is a television station."
Except that it works for her premise. Atwood's definition of "religion" seems to be "firmly believing something that is scientifically unprovable." By that standard, atheism is a religion. OTOH, so is believing that red is the prettiest color, disco the best type of music, Brigadoon the best musical, etc.
Brigadoon isn't the best musical?
Thank you guys so much! I am overwhelmed with all the happies. I feel so loved today.
My baby sister called, my mom called, I got a card from Nicole Just. Now! and an e-card from Sarah. All these greetings, and Nick is about to take me to lunch. If the stars align, I may even get a puppy.
I love you guys. You are the best.
{{{sj}}} I'm so sorry about the sideswiping ambulance.
