"Fuck Western ideologically-motivated gender identification!" Sulu gasped, and came.

Hey, does anyone here remember what the title is of recruitment consultants who go approaching companies and otherwise looking for a job for you?

t former recruitment consultant

Ooh, pick me! Pick me! I know this one! They are called...

...

...

recruitment consultants!!!

At least, when I was doing it there was no special name for them, no task-force of special Job-Seeking Agents unleashed to round up the jobs. It was just one facet of the job - one sat in the office registering people, one checked their references, and one went forth and sought out jobs for them.

Man, I hated that job. Cold calling companies, trying to wrangle jobs out of them. Supposed to pressurise people into accepting offers so you'd closed the deal and made a percentage, even if they didn't want to accept the jobs...

::shudders::

But anyway, point being there wasn't any special name for them, at least in my experience.

'Headhunter' refers to people who explicitly seek YOU out because they want to recruit you, and want you to leave your present job and come work for them. Funnily enough I was headhunted when I was a recruitment consultant, which made me a headhuntee, I guess. Or something. But I'm guessing that headhunting was just one facet of the jobs of the recruitment consultant who approached me, and that they also did the other stuff.

Cass, you still around?
Lee, I am still here waiting ... I can't always be waiting, waiting on you. I can't always be playing, playing your fool. I keep playing your part. But its not my scene ...

Whoa I was taken over by the spirit of Jack Johnson. Bad juju, man...

It seems the fucking Insomnia Fairy brought some new guests to play tonight as well. She is in no way getting a Christmas bonus. In fact? I might go to sleep before midnight on new year's eve and just sleep through the kissing. She is On The List!

I now give sleep another chance. In front of the tv with something informative, often a nice DiscoveryTimes or a DiscoveryScience. Preferably about something I am interested in but don't care too much about in the immediate moment. Those shows are perfect for being talked into the sleep coma.

Then, if that don't work? The oft-threatened good, strong bonk to the head. I have fireplace tools, that seem like there might be some actual metal in them, for heft.

I feel sleepy, let's try and go with that... t flutters off, sort of stumbling into the furniture at times

CAss, I hear you on the insomnia thing. I've been singing the praises of Ambien for the last 4 years -- and now, I'm building up a tolerance for it. I have to take two to get even sleepy anymore -- and then I'll get maybe 5 hours of sleep.

Anyone tried anything besides Ambien that's worked for them? I gotta make a drs. appt. to talk about a different option, and I'd love to have to info before I go.

Yep, Ambien failed me in a big way tonight so far. Which is sad cause we used to be so damn good together...

There is also Lunesta which helps me sleep and is safe for long-term use but I got the icky taste side effect so I bailed on it. For those who don't get that, or get less, or can handle it - Lunesta is a great alternative.

This doesn't feel like tolerance, it feels like those rare times when you take it and instead of making you sleepy, it makes you other. You eat, clean, read, type... The Ambien Haze. Totally calm and relaxed but not actually sleepy. Sadly tonight it was obsess and think. not clean like the wind. Another opportunity lost.

It's unfair. If I am going to go all Ambien Haze instead of to sleep? I should have the house scrubbed top to bottom in the morning. Complete with clean floors. I can't even do the wrong thing right.

Colonists are being killed on my tv now. I should pay a wee bit of attention and try and grab the gold ring of four and a half hours of sleep that are still possible.

Oh, yeah. The Ambien Haze is a weird thing. I've done all kinds of weird things on an Ambien HAze. Word to the wise: Never decide to "experiment" with makeup looks on Ambien. You end up waking up with copper eyeshadow all the way up to your forehead, and mint green "blush."

Lunesta, eh? Anyone had good results from Sonata? I think that's the name.

Hey. New board.

Well, we can make out in the shower. I've heard good things about such practices.

Gah! I was just thinking in the subway this morning how very, very much I need to make out with somebody, and then you go and remind me how stuff like this exists!

Hate you. Work today will be a constant fantasy of making out with pretty girls/boys in showers.

I must admit that this state of unusual makeout desire is probably my fault - I missed a perfectly cromulent chance to make out with by far the least emotionally fraught of my ex-girlfriends last week, an act that would have been very much mutually enjoyable and stress-relieving, by getting too intoxicated. Ah well.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Maybe next time she gets married she can release doves followed by peregrine falcons or something. I would seriously pay to attend that wedding.
