[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Oooh, more work ranting!

So, Spazwoman!Consultant says to my coworker, "Quasi!OfficeManager (who's been on maternity for two weeks) said we can't have radios in here." And then walks right past another coworker, who's PLAYING A RADIO. @@

Problems with this: Quasi!OfficeManager never said anything about no radios. There's no company-wide policy about radios. She walked RIGHT PAST someone else and said nothing. And, she invoked the name of our actual "supervisor", since she's technically a consultant and has no influence on us.

Why I think this happened? Coworker listens to conservative talk radio (which isn't my cup of tea either, but she's not obnoxious about the volume). She always turns things off during tours (which is why this came up today), so it shouldn't be a problem. I think Spazwoman!Consultant just has an issue with what my coworker listens to, and that's discriminating no matter how you slice it.

tries to take blood from "boiling" to "mild simmer"...

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Pop culture run amuk? The whole firm just got a farewell email from the NY copy center supervisor, who is retiring after 33 years. It starts out:

I didn't intend to appear as following the footsteps of Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Carribean. Ahead of him he has his golden treasures; ahead of me I have my golden years. The new dawn has come, the sails are up and the winds are strong to embark on this next journey of mine called retirement.

I'm not sure. I wonder what would happen if I asked.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

On So you think you can dance -- the cabbage face girl is Heidi. She's a good dancer saddled with a partner who doesn't really want to be her partner.

OMG, you're right. I had forgotten about that. They have zero chemistry, which unfortunately really stands out next to so many couples that have it in abundance. I think that is my problem with Martha and Travis (the foxtrotters) as well.

I was one of those freaks who took 8 am classes in college by choice. Well, part of it was strategy. I figured I got a boost in my grade just for showing up and being coherent, which I wouldn't have gotten taking the same class at 2 pm. It helped.

When I was a grad student, I loved teaching language at 8am. 1) Those sections always had fewer students. 2) The people that chose those times generally really wanted to be there and/or were very industrious.

It is pretty much a given that classes between 12 and 2 are going to have low-energy/interest levels. Most profs I know avoid them like the plague.
