Back-pain~ma to Cashmere and Beth. I hope you both got some sleep.
{{{Teppy}}} Tons of ~ma for your grandfather.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

A separate Pirate Fair on a BOAT.
There are pirates who come to Pennsic, the big middles ages and renaissance thing I go to north of Pittsburgh every August. They bring a boat. The pirates are pretty cool, if a bit swashy for the middle ages. JZ, do I sense that some fairly vehement sermons on giving aid and comfort to privateers might be in your future?
These kinds of "what's in and what's out" tensions are endemic to historical organizations. We won't discuss the klingons or the vampires ("There were vampires in the middle ages!" "Oookay, but why can I see them?"), but you know what people didn't wear in western europe in the middle ages? Loincloths. Even, and you'd be surprised by how many people this catches, even when they are made of chainmail.
Much ~ma to Connie and DH and to Teppy and the Tank.
The gronk, she is mighty.
OMGBleh. The sleep, she did not come to me last night. I think I was in sympathy with sj's previous stomach pains. Today, I just want to sleep, but I don't think that's in the cards. Aside from the gronk, I feel crappy, but not quite crappy enough to go home, especially considering my boss is out today and I can't see my desk.
So, is this post completely incoherent?
{{{libkitty}}} So sorry about the stomach pain, I really wasn't trying to share.
I feel absolutely crappy today. This is celebrating my birthday with my friends day, I should be all happy and carefree.
JSw, didn't men wear sort-of loincloths as underwear? not the chain mail kind (ouch) ....
Even, and you'd be surprised by how many people this catches, even when they are made of chainmail.
My first RenFaire, I saw a woman wearing a chainmail loincloth. With no underwear. And her pubes were caught in it.
My last RenFaire in California, saw a guy in full Aztec mufti, basically a loincloth, necklace, and unbelievable feathered headdress. Unlike Chainmail Chick, he was in great shape.
Teppy, loads of ~ma for you and yours...even some Family Communication~ma.
How does one dress like the Flying Spaghetti Monster?

I hope you feel better soon and that you can have fun with your friends today!
My first RenFaire, I saw a woman wearing a chainmail loincloth. With no underwear. And her pubes were caught in it.
Ay yi yi yi. But you know, unless it was her first month with pubes, she should have figured that out, beforehand.
{{{sj}}} here's to things looking up, and a wonderful celebration for you.

In the medieval period, western european men are generally wearing braes, which are like linen boxers. And to address my point, they had all kinds of clothing over said undies.

Yeah. The chainmail undies and nothing else folks seem to have mostly discovered the technology of lining the bikini/loincloth, but there are a few traditionalist holdouts.

I've seen that done well a few times too. It's nice when it is done well enough and done rarely enough that it really stands out, like it would have for the medievals. Also, there's nothing like good abs to sell a minimalist costume. Sunscreen can be a good icebreaker.
Tank~ma for Tep's grandfather and dramatic-reduction-of-pain~ma for connie's husband and happy-and-carefree~ma for sj
One of DH's minions is trying to negotiate a raise. He got a 5% raise at his last review, which Dh agreed to revisit after 6 months, and it's 6 months now. DH offered another 5% (compounded). Employee is asking fro >25%. It's giving me contact stress.
The insurance company in Monterey decided I wasn't committed enough to underwriting to be a good fit. I think I am officially out of the job market for a few more months.
