Em and I are surprising my mom for her birthday.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Ah. YAY!
well, you've surprised us - that's a start!
Yay Aims!
Paging Juliana -
I want to chill this Fernet I bought, correct?
Having a big BBQ tonight. Have spent $100 on food and $200 on liquor. Beer, mojitos, and Fernet will the the order of the day. Yikes. But should be v. much fun.
In conclusion, Fernet!
It's totally last minute! Had to use an assload of miles for it but I'M GOING!
Aimee, she'll be thrilled. Surprise Em makes a great birthday present.
Fun! We used to do the surprise drop in on my mom all the time. (Then there was a time when my dad tried to do the same thing to my brother and arrived at his doorstep to a very confused roommate who informed him that Bro had gone to the beach for the weekend, heh.)

I hope Em is better before the flight.
Timelies!
I'm sorry I missed the massage discussion. Sad for those who don't like people touching them, my dad included. Mom, however, minds not in the least when I work on her.
For peeps with tired hand issues, I like to recommend (and give away) raquetballs to all my clients as self-massage tools. They're smoother than tennis balls, so can be used on skin or clothing. They're firm enough to give some pressure (esp on owie parts), yet squishy enough to not bruise. Roll around (without grasping, cup in your hand only!) on troublesome areas. Good for RSI self-massage too. To self-get shoulder blades, put between a wall and your sore spots, then lean into wall and roll around.
If you prefer to use hands, you can use (ulnar border or pinkie edge) forearms, lightly closed fists/knuckles, and judiciously placed elbows when fingers are tired. I would only use elbow as last resort, and only if you are SURE it won't slip. Do NOT use pressure over bones, although a little work directly on the scap can be good for the infraspinatus in the rotator cuff. DO NOT use a lot of pressure over the bony bit of the spine! Directly off to either side is useful, though. The back can take a lot of abuse pressure. The neck needs slightly gentler work, especially in the front.
I have no use for spas. I like massage to be corrective, which tends to be on the painful side. I tend to give that, as well, given that I work in a chiropractic office.
In conclusion, let's make out.
