See, this would be why I love Jilli. The ensembles are just a bonus.
In part, I'd just read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty pr0n, and when "adult Wizard of Oz" was described I just didn't feel up to it. I loved the Oz books as a kid and watched the movie every year, and didn't want to see it turned into bad pr0n.
Oh! Gosh, no, not at all like the Sleeping Beauty stuff. Not in the slightest.
It's the story of the Wicked Witch (Elphaba), told from a bit before her birth to her death. It's very much rooted in the Oz books, I think (although it's years since I read them) but it's ALSO very much rooted in the movie (which is, heaven knows, pretty damned different from the books). We have backstory for Elphaba's family, and the origin of her sister's ruby slippers, and why they're so important to her. We have Elphaba attending University, where she ends up getting to know (and dislike, and eventually become friends with) Galinda, who later calls herself Glinda. And there's the Wizard, with his role in Elphaba's story. And there's the origin of the flying monkeys. There is a wee bit of sex, but it's only a very wee bit of sex and there may even be a tactful fade to black, I forget - but she does have a lover at one point. Poor girl. She doesn't exactly have a cheery life, but she certainly has a passionate and eventful one.
It's worth looking at - and having read (well, skimmed) the Sleeping Beauty books, I can say with some confidence that it's a horse of a different colour.
