Small town Alaska - more suicides and hunting deaths. Less car accidents. I sympathize.
I must have been lucky, although I suppose my HS town doesn't really count as a small town in Alaska even though it would elsewhere. I went to two different high schools. In the four years, I think 2 people total died from both schools. One car accident, one I'm not sure, so probably suicide, but not obviously so.

I looked up the name Maia because I wasn't familiar with it with that spelling, and I found this part very interesting: In Greek and Roman mythology she was the eldest of the Pleiades.
