Embrace the idea that we are the leaders we've been looking for. Grace Lee Boggs

Corwood, I'm so sorry about the whole thing with your mom and with the van. Pretty much everyone has said what I would, but I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight.

He looked about 3 when he was 1 year old, and people would just see him acting his age, and you could tell they were thinking, "What's up with that?"

This seems to be happening more and more. It happens a lot with kids in my family who tend to be large and then stop growing when everyone else starts growth spurts. It also happens with some friends kids, who are just plain big (shortest woman in the family is over 6 ft.).

I read a neat article in the New York Times, about a pastor at a Baptist megachurch "disowning conservative politics." Inspiring, I thought. [link] If you can't access it, try bugmenot for nytimes.com: [link]

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

Thanks, libkitty. Sorry for the pity party in general.

Sophia, glad you're sticking with it. Soon you won't even hear the foul notes anymore in all that lovely music.

Erika, what could I do but bow and say "Swedgin!"?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I love how Ian McShane swears. He makes "pussy" sing.

I hadn't realised it was based on history. I was startled by stuff in episode 4, and so went to wikipedia. Interesting.

I was very sad to see Brom go. I like that actor, and the stuff he's doing in Psych doesn't do it for me.

vanguard of the socialist Hollywood liberal homosexualist agenda

Waaay late to the party, but the movie theater company I work for has made a rule that children under 6 can't go into late-night showings. (Whether they should go in at all is another matter, but at least we're trying.)

I don't think I had much censorship when I was young, but I think I had some serious blinders on at that age. I remember a Star Trek book I read that seemed very scandalous at the time. And another one about some girl and Stonehenge, and I think that was even a YA book.

I've spent the day being pissed off by Rush Limbaugh and my ultra-conservative coworker, and now I want to go home and cry and cry and start packing to move to another country.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Does anyone ever call an automated phone system these days without being warned that "our menu options have recently changed"?

nah. They're just trying to get you to listen to the options. Which you wouldn't have to do if there was a PERSON on the ohter end of the phone.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I don't know about the uc-cow worker, but don't let that impotent gas bag bother you.

Always Anti-fascist!

Dude, I know! The language can seriously knock a buzzard off a shitwagon. I barely notice anymore; I almost wish it was a few years ago with stepmonster trying to make a debutante of me so I could get the full mileage of it. My mom's not really thrilled by the thought I might greet somebody with "cocksucker" but, you know... Yeah, the McShane performance is kind of amazing in general, ita. I hate Al in lots of ways, but I have to watch him. And that thing with Wu? Really hilarious."I'm so glad I taught you that word." Corwood: Austin cocksucker!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

The language can seriously knock a buzzard off a shitwagon.

I was just amazed by the amount and that it was distracting. I mean, I am pretty fouled mouthed myself, or at least have been in different times of my life.

It sort of reminds me of the time in acting class when I had to take my shirt off for a scene. There were 5 people in the class and 2 of them were in my scene, and I had a nice body then and I didn't think of myself as modest. And then I thought I was going to die of embarrassment.

Not that I am embarrassed about the swearing, just surprised at my own prudishness which I tend to forget I have.
