You don't give up your a prospect for someone who will be a free agent in 3 months.
The thinking is that since (a) Zito is a free agent and the Mets are one of only three teams that can afford him (along with the Yankees and Dodgers), and (b) Zito's old pitching coach is with the Mets that it'd be a good opportunity to get him into the fold. It worked with McGwire in St. Louis.
OTOH, Milledge isn't really the kind of hitter the A's need right now. We need a big ass thumper. If Bradley and Frank Thomas can stay healthy and Chavez can get healthy we might have enough thump. And if Harden comes back healthy in September then we could make a run in the post-season.
Especially since El Duque has been pitching better than expected.
Yeah, but he's like 87. He's going to snap off a curveball and his forearm's going to explode into a puff of dust.
He pitched 8 innings yesterday, and at one point retired 18 in a row.
I made vegetable soup today so we wouldn't have to cook in the ungodly heat this week. I now have about 5 gallons of soup and not enough space to freeze it/store it.
Everyone needs to come to my house and eat soup.
There's a column in the Times about Latino Goths in the Bronx [link] which calls Hot Topic the H&M of Goth, which seems about right.

There's a possibility that I'll be in Columbus this coming weekend, Cashmere. I'll let you know when I'm sure, and maybe we could hook up.
Megan, much peace and courage to you and your family.
Mel, Tom
I consider Mel and Tom to be evidence that aliens walk among us.

Thetans? No, never mind.
Have walked a mile. Have showered. Going to bed. G'night.
