hand. up.

Really though, I can't complain, given I'm in an overly cool office at the moment. My apartment might get into the high 70s, but will still be bearable. I'm just trying not to think about it.

I hate plowing through email after a vacation. Why did I come back?

Oh, right. Paycheck.

The forecast here is temperatures around 100° with heat indexes of up to 110° for the next three days. Can it be fall yet?

Happy birthday, Juliana!

Hope those of y'all killed ded by the Li'l Sphere cuteness are amply recovered today, at least enough to receive my words of thanks.

Nutty: Also, future drummer on your hands.

Yeah! We’ve rigged our drum set (my wife plays a bit) so that he can reach most of them. It’s a racket, but he loves it.

Beth: but the cutest part - when he got distracted by the book. awww...

He loves books, and Hand Hand Fingers Thumb is eminently distract-u-lating.

DavidS: What kind of parent lets his kid dance around in tie-dye like that?!?

Hey, I'm a cruddy dad. To be fair, though, I silk-screened a picture of Max in his wolf suit on the front.

Msbelle: Lil Sphere did kill me dead, but so did his dad laughin and talking behind the camera.

He's a funny un.

Sorry for the ego-rambling. This post has been brought to you by the letter “I” and the number “1”.

Can it be fall yet?

Can it just be fall all year round please?

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Oh dear. These are the times when I hate having no AC. I did close my windows and curtains this morning in an attempt to seal in the cool air, but I will already be roasting from driving home in my non-airconditioned car that has sat on asphalt for 9 hours.

However, since there are usually only about 4 days a year when things are unbearable, I hate to shell out for AC.

Can it just be fall all year round please?

Now there's I plan I can get behind.

I've taken refuge in the library across the street so I don't have to have my AC running all day. I'm thinking PotC when it closes.

As long as it's not like last October, which was a rainy suckfest - took all the fun out of autumn.

Very little rain and breezy, warm weather is what I had in mind.

Because books.

The thing that always gets me is thinking about the 1800s, especially in the south. All those layers of clothes, and no fans. It's amazing that people didn't die of heat stroke left and right.

If I had to wear more than the tank top and shorts I'm currently wearing, I think I would literally pass out. (No A/C here, for those playing along at home.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

The upside to living in a dark, tree-shrouded apartment, is that if I shut the blinds I can leave the AC off all day and it'll still be fairly livable when I get home. By "livable" I mean mid-80s, but given that it's expected to get up to the mid-90s around here today, that's still pretty good.
