I'm going to give some quiet thanks for all the wonderful, cool-as-hell and objective teachers I had from k-12*. Even when I started expressing my opinions early (hard to believe, right?) and these opinions differed from my teachers' they taught me to reason and debate issues with respect.
- with the exception of the sexist twit who taught my advanced algebra class who thought that girls were no good at math and tended to favor the boys. But, hey, screw him. I know lots of women actuaries now that could run circles around his tiny pea-sized brain.
